Electric Glider Competition 2016

This year this competition was again run at Porthole Farm. The day was overcast with heavy black cloud with a very little breeze from the NW, a good flying day. 7 pilots flew, the wind was very light with a little lift. The Models were two Radians, one Mystique, one Easystar, one Ellipsoid , one Cularis and one O/D. max Battery size to be 2200. An all up last down started the day. James Egington won with time of 47 min 56 sec using his Radian followed by Eamon Keating with 43 min42 sec flying the Mystique and Stewart Whittle at 29 min 27 sec using his Ellipsoid. Ray Beadle managed to crash land a long way out in the Cabbage patch but with no damage after not watching his model! Eric Peacock and the Easystar did 21 min but David Draper did not get far with no elevator coupled! For the second comp it was decided to allow a climb time of 20 sec. A landing area was marked out for an extra point. The rounds were 5 min max for the first, 6 min max for the second and 7 min max for the third, all on the same battery The best times for the first round were four maxes by James Egington and Ray Beadle , Eamon Keating and Stewart Whittle. Ken Knox did 4 min 15 sec and Eric Peacock 2min 07 sec. Nobody made the landing box. In the second round, maxes were by Ken, James, Eamon and Eric, followed by Ray with 5 min 24 sec and Stewart with 3 min 30 sec . Ken, James, Eamon and Eric touched down in the box getting the extra point. The third round only had Two maxes by Ray and Eric, but James, 3min 54sec, Stewart 4 min 33 sec and Ken 3 min followed, Ray and Ken landing in the box. Eamon had no plane to fly, as his Mystique had the wing fail on the decent in the second round. The result for this was, First Ray Beadle, Second James Egington and Eric Peacock. Thanks to Porsha who helped time and record and all who attended and made it very enjoyable, See you all next year. Cheers Ray

Note to all Users ofPorthole Farm

It is imperative that when entering and leaving the field you must LOCK the gate behind you irrespective of other people/vehicles still being there (i.e. Dog trainers)

as the land owner has INSISTED that this be carried and is a fundamental clause in the use of the field.

For those of you who have not yet discovered it, Nick Gates has set up a group page on Facebook its well worth a look
