2.7 Install the 4 new rubber pads

2.8 Unlock the magnet clamp from the loader by pressing down the 3 tabs with a small slot head screwdriver and rotating the clamp to the right

2.9 Clean the parts pictured below with alcohol

2.10 Remove the existing magnet and install the new magnet. Make sure that the white stripes on magnet are facing down, against the black plastic plate (magnet holder)

2.11 Insert the magnet holder into position from the underside of the magnet clamp and place the top plate over the magnet

2.12 Lock it in place by rotating the top plate to the left and securing it by raising the three taps with a small slot head screwdriver

2.13 Install the traverse mechanism in to the loader and fasten with the 4 screws

2.14 Cut or trim down any sharp or extended component leads in order to make them blunt. This is to avoid the leads touching the chassis bottom insulation

3. Improving Readability Improving readability is done in three steps: - Replacing three resistors on the decoder board - Updating firmware - Performing a factory reset 3.1 Remove the AC power cord from the CD player 3.2 Remove the top cover (by removing the 10 torx screws) 3.3 Remove resistors JP100, JP101 and R133 from the decoder board (see picture below):

3.4 Replace those resistors with the following values: JP100 = 3,3kΩ 0603 JP101 = 1,5kΩ 0603 R133 = 8,2kΩ 0603 3.5 Updating CD-Player Firmware (see “How to Update CD32 & CD22 MCU Firmware”) 3.6 Performing a ‘FACTORY RESET’: - Turn ON the CD player and wait until the display shows “No disc” - Press and hold 'standby', 'play' and 'stop' buttons on the front panel. “FACTORY” will start blinking in the display. When “FACTORY” stops blinking, you can release the buttons 3.7 You can check the firmware version by pressing and holding the ‘standby’ button

4. Insulating the Spindle Motor When opening the tray, the spindle motor drops to allow for the insertion of a CD. Due to the new heavier and bigger spindle motor, contact with the chassis bottom might happen if the insulation is not sufficient (or missing). A short could occur if the motor were to contact the chassis bottom, which could damage the servo IC on the decoder board. As a result, fuses might blow and ERROR will be shown in the display. 4.1 Remove the AC power chord from the CD player 4.2 Remove the top cover (by removing the 10 torx screws) 4.3 Disconnect all cables between the decoder board and the CD loader 4.4 Remove the CD loader 4.5 Install insulation in area marked with red in picture below (servo IC marked in blue)

4.6 Assemble the CD loader, reconnect the cables and put on the top cover before turning the CD player ON again 4.7 If the insulation is too thick, the spindle may not be able to drop deep enough and CD tray will touch the spindle assembly when closing. Check that the tray can eject and close smoothly without touching the spindle assembly Note: Make sure to check point 2.14 in this document. Extended leads can penetrate thin insulation!
