Commander’s Message Auxiliary President’s Message
Greetings Comrades,
I hope that everyone enjoyed a great
holiday season! Another year has
passed and the contributions to our
veterans, the countless hours of vol-
unteer work, and the personal sacrific-
es made by many in service to our
Post, are a testament to the talent,
honor and commitment of our mem-
bers. It seems like every month I’m highlighting and thank-
ing members for their service to Post 2111, and there’s never
a shortage of folks that come to mind. However, as I’m
writing this, I have to especially be remindful of our Men’s
Auxiliary. As most of you know, the Men’s Auxiliary was
officially disbanded at the end of 2016. I would be remiss if
I did not mention my true appreciation for their years of ser-
vice and contributions to our veterans and our Post. To all
of our past Men’s Auxiliary members I offer a sincere thank
you! I know that in joining our combined “Auxiliary” you
will continue to be a force and contribute to an established
group of energized women and men, whose sole purpose is
the support of our veterans and Post comrades.
As we all know, membership is the lifeblood of our Post and
the greater VFW organization. We currently are behind in
where we should be for membership totals. I would like to
ask each member for a renewed effort to contact those mem-
bers who have not yet renewed their membership, and to
continue to recruit new members. For those who recruit on a
daily basis, thank you! New membership equates to contin-
ued fiscal success, and directly relates to our Post being able
to meet program goals that support our various veteran pro-
grams.
Our January “dance card” is filling up quickly. We’re usher-
ing in the New Year with a party on New Year’s Eve, and
then quickly transition into being in the District 1 spotlight.
On January 14th (Saturday), we will host an Official Visit
and Breakfast for our State Commander Dale Smith and
State Auxiliary President Tootsie Dougherty. Breakfast will
start at 0800 and we’re expecting a fairly large State/District/
Post crowd. Any help in the kitchen or help in organizing,
would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, I want to personally extend to each and every one of
you my wish for a happy and prosperous new year. I look
forward to what we can accomplish as an organization!
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
Energize and rededicate yourselves to the work of the VFW
and Post 2111. Let’s make 2017 the best year ever!
Very Respectfully,
Brett Taylor
Commander, VFW Post 2111
Dear Sisters, Brothers, Com-
rades, and Friends,
Happy New Year! I Hope eve-
ryone is doing well and had a
wonderful Christmas. Half of
the VFW Auxiliary year is over.
Unbelievable, where did the time
go? I am still looking forward to
the next 6 months of being your
Auxiliary president. Thank you
for your support and trust with this position.
The Children’s Christmas Party was great with lots of fun,
food, and bright happy faces. Thank you, Phyllis and Keith.
You played outstanding parts as Santa and Mrs. Clause. A
big thank you, goes out to Peggy for helping of the decorat-
ing and Melissa for going out with me to go toy shopping.
Cindy Lou, thank you for driving out to Costco for the piz-
zas. Rich, thank you so much for helping with the clean up.
Mike thanks again for your donations for the party, it truly
made a difference.
Membership is doing well. Less than 3% left to make 100%
for membership. We need only 11 new members. We can
almost see the light. You all are doing a fantastic job getting
us to meet the 100%. Please take a look at the flyer. The
Auxiliary is thanking the men for joining the Auxiliary with
a free breakfast. We will take applications at anytime and
on the morning of the breakfast. We can hardly wait to lis-
ten to your ideas to better help our Veterans. Just a reminder
that the District membership meeting will be held January
24th at the Ramona Post #3783 PFC Archie G McArthur.
Need a ride? Call me we can get a car pool together.
This month will be another busy month. The Department
Official Visit starts January 13th until the 15th. Breakfast is
planned at our post #2111 for Saturday morning January
14th. Larry will need some volunteers to help with taking
orders and serving. If you can only make toast, that’s okay.
That alone is a big help. If you have some free time please
contact Larry and let him know. Let’s make our post shine
on that morning. Many of us will be going to Sacramento
for C of A conference. That’s from January 20th until Janu-
ary 22. We will come back with lots of ideas and infor-
mation to help all to better help our Veterans. That’s what
we are here for. Can’t forget out Auxiliary District meeting
January 15th being held at our Post @2111 at 9:00 a.m.
Hope to see you there.
Let Freedom Ring, Sing, and Swing. Remembering the Sac-
rifices our Veterans Made to our Country. Be kind to one
another.

Hello Comrades, Sisters and Men’s
Auxiliary members, this being my last
Presidents Message, I wish and hope
everyone had a wonderful Christmas and
New Year. As you know or might have
heard the Men’s Auxiliary will no long-
er exist as of the New Year. Instead the
VFW will only have one Auxiliary.
All past Men’s Auxiliary members and new members are
encouraged to join the Auxiliary. You are required to
complete an application, show proof of eligibility, and
write a check payable to the VFW Auxiliary if you wish
to continue to have all the benefits that the Auxiliary has
to offer.
Also. I would like to mention that the Men’s Auxiliary
has made a few donations to the Post for upgrades and
equipment to enhance your experience at the Post. We
now have a bigger HD television with surround sound, a
new portable PA system with accessories, an Internet Wi-
Fi extender for faster service, and kitchen equipment. So
come in watch the college bowl games, the NFL games
here at 2111 and order some food. All purchases helps
the Post.
I would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to
Larry Fuller, and Amie Arias for their dedication in vol-
unteering their time throughout the year MAUX break-
fast. Thank you guys we appreciate it. Also a shout out to
our MAUX team Allen Cazares, Roger Cazares, Mike
Ramirez, Jason Young for your time and effort and mak-
ing a quorum every month, thanks a bunch.
We are always in need of volunteers. Volunteer work can
be a challenging and rewarding experience. Without vol-
unteers, Post 2111 would not be the strong Post that we
are. We are proud of our volunteers and the valuable ser-
vices they provide. So if you would like to volunteer or
have a student needing community service hours, Post
2111 is a great place to earn them. Contact Ed Hamilton,
our House Committee Chairman.
Thank you to all of those that have continued to give
their time, and commitment.
Sincerely yours in honor and support.

EFFECTIVE January 1 2017. The bartenders and Post
Officers have been advised to check all patrons in VFW
Post 2111 canteen for proof of current membership in the
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of Ameri-
ca. This includes Post and Current Auxiliary members.
Current Auxiliary members are defined as Previous La-
dies and Men’s Auxiliary members. I suspect that there
are many members that have not paid the required up to
date dues and are no longer authorized to patronize the
canteen. EVERYONE must show their membership card.
Please don’t reprimand the bartender for having to show
your card. This is my direction and they are merely doing
as told. See the Club Manager and the importance of
your membership card will be discussed.
MUSIC. The Nitro Express Band is back. Effective Jan-
uary 14, 2017 the Nitro Express will be playing at VFW
Post 2111 the second Saturday of each month until further
notice. Come down and enjoy the good music be pre-
pared to do a lot of dancing.

ers and Friends,
We hope everyone had a won-
derful Holiday Season, and we

brought good tidings for the Canteen and Clubroom
through Hall Rentals and your increased patronage.
Thank You to all who enjoyed the hospitality and friend-
ship at the Post. Let’s keep up the good work into the
New Year and continue to build and make our Post “The

Food4Warriors Continues in 2017
Fellow Veterans,
Us for Warriors Foundation (Us4Warriors) is back with our #Food4Warriors Food Drop Program in 2017. These food
drops provide pre-packed groceries consisting of dry goods, produce and much more for active duty, dependents, veter-
ans and families in need. Sometimes, it is hard for our brothers and sisters to make ends meet. Some are simply going
through challenges and could use a hand up. Our Food4Warriors efforts help those in need.
Kicking off the 2017 year at American Legion Post 434, 47 5th Avenue, Chula Vista, CA at 11AM-12PM on January
27th, 2017.

Then, we will be at American Legion Post 731, 7245 Linda Vista Road, San Diego, CA at 11AM-12PM on February
24th, 2017.

Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/160369814442359/?ti=cl
March 24th will be at Elks Lodge El Cajon and April 21st at Veterans Association of North County Bldg. in
Oceanside. We are booked throughout the year in the 4 corners of San Diego County. We will send out flyers for these
events soon, but details are available at www.Food4Warriors.org.
In the final 6 months of 2016, thanks to your support, we provided over 20 tons of food to feed over 1,000 active duty,
veterans and their families through these food drops. During the holidays, we also provided groceries for a record 60
families in need, some with 5, 6, or 7 in their households.
Our Food4Warriors program works from a streamlined, lean program that has proven to help those in need. Thanks to
our donors and the good folks at SUNDT Construction, Feeding San Diego, and the Knights of Columbus, we march
forward to help even more in 2017.
The Us for Warriors Foundation, or "Us4Warriors, is a 501c3 Non Profit Charity comprised of uncompensated veterans
(we take no money) dedicated to help warriors, past and present, live stronger lives. Details about our organization can
be found at www.Us4Warriors.org. Our efforts, along with the support of the community, earned recognition as the
2016 Veteran Non Profit of the Year for San Diego County from the County of San Diego and Veterans Museum and
Memorial Center. We thank you for helping us achieve our mission to support the troops, veterans and their fami-
lies. Together, we can help many live stronger lives.
Please share this info and help those in need, sign up or show up. For those with community service desires, please con-
sider signing up to volunteer.
Thanks for your continued teamwork and support!
Salute!
