Hailing from Canada, this monthsfeatured designer is Lynn Ghahary.

She is an avid card maker and a

    SAHM to two adorable boys.

A little more about Lynn, in her

    own words:

    My husband (and high school

sweetheart) Salar and I have been

married for nine years. We have

two wild and crazy boys together,

    Darian (five) and Brandon (three-

and-a-half), that keep me busy most

of the day. I am lucky enough to be

able to stay home, and if Im not

carting them to and from school,

sports activities, birthday parties, orplay dates, you can usually find me

    building Lego towers and fighting

the forces of evil, while playing a

little Nintendo DSi and Wii on the

    side.

I was first introduced to the

wonderful world of scrapbookingway back in 2000. Unfortunately I

didn't have much time to scrapbook,

as I worked a very demandingfull-time job I dabbled and

    bought supplies more than I

actually used them. I took a break

completely when my first son was

born and didn't really come back to

    scrapbooking until early 2008.

Card making may seem like a

    natural extension, but it didnt

work that way for me. Im not

    sure why, but creating cards

    overwhelmed me more than

    designing a layout (youd think

it would be exactly the opposite).

Perhaps the petite size and the

desire to say so much in such a

small space is what threw me off,but I persevered and a distinct love

for card making was born. Now

I create cards just as often as if

not more than I create scrapbook

layouts. Its a great way to use up

all of those scraps and play with

all of the pretty flowers and girly

papers and embellishments that Ihoard despite the fact that I only

    have boys.

    LYNN GHAHARYL Y N N G H A H A R Y . B L O G S P O T . C O M

If a certain design principalor embellishment worked on ascrapbook layout, itll work on acard. I often look to layouts Ivecreated and love as a startingpoint for my cards.

Take pictures of your finishedcards after youve given thecard away, you can go back totake a peek and create another, similar card. In that same vein, its totally okay to create cardswith similar design elements!

By simply changing papers orembellishments you can makea card with a unique messageand feel while maintaining thesame basic setup. I believe thesaying If it aint broke, dont fix

it most certainly applies to carddesigning.

Sometimes its all about thedetails. The easiest way to stepup your card making is to payattention to the little things, liketying on some floss, adding bradsto buttons, sticking pins throughthe knot of a ribbon, or attachinggems or jewels to the centres ofyour flowers.
