You may remember that during our talks in September 1981, I spoke to you about Davy McKee, one of the United Kingdom's and indeed one of the world's leading and most experienced contractors, who were bidding at that time for the ammonia/ methanol plant to be built by the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company° I was naturally disappointed, as I believe you were, that the UK were unable in the ent to participate in this project. I know Peter Rees spoke to you of Davy McKee's interest in this project last March, but I thought it would be timely for me to raise with you Davy McKee's Proven expertise in this particular field, and to urge you to consider their proposals sympathetically. 1 —

Your Excellency

I recall with great pleasure my visit to Bahrain in 1981,

and I know Peter Rees had a most successful visit last March

in which he reaffirmed Her Majesty's Government's wish to

extend the links between our two countries, particularly in

the area of economic cooperation.

You may remember that during our talks in September 1981,

I spoke to you about Davy McKee, one of the United Kingdom's

and indeed one of the world's leading and most experienced

contractors, who were bidding at that time for the ammonia/

methanol plant to be built by the Gulf Petrochemical Industries

Company° I was naturally disappointed, as I believe

you were, that the UK were unable in the ent to participate

in this project. I was therefore mest---i-n-trepeste4. to learn that

Davy McKee were hoping to participate in your country's

impressive plans for aluminium processing through the Gulf

Aluminium Rolling Mill project. I know Peter Rees spoke to you

of Davy McKee's interest in this project last March, but

I thought it would be timely for me to raise with you

Davy McKee's Proven expertise in this particular field, and to

urge you to consider their proposals sympathetically.
