The March 4, 2000 schedule of the President also showed nothing for media coverage except the taping of "Jeep ni Erap," Estrada's TV-radio program, in the morning. But it turned out that the President again had a busy evening on that date, flying to Cebu where he attended a party thrown by some personal friends.

This detail appeared a few weeks later in a column by Jaime Picornell in the Inquirer. A chronicler of the Cebu social scene, Picornell was actually writing about Mariquita and Carlos Yeung and their involvement in Operation Smile, a charity that arranges surgery for children with cleft palates and other disfigurements. Yeung is one of the biggest diamond dealers in Hong Kong while his Cebuana wife Mariquita is now better known as one of Laarni Enriquez's chums. According to Picornell, when the Yeungs celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary last March, "Dr. Bill Magee (the brains behind the project) was still around, and so was the Operation Smile team leader Dr. Han Kai, plus Laarni Enriquez, who is honorary trustee of the MSY Foundation, and her three very good-looking children."

"Best of all," he wrote, "there to wish Kit and Carlos more years of bliss was their dearest friend, President Estrada, who went around the fairyland setting shaking everyone's hand and exchanging pleasantries. There was no rain this time and dancing under the stars went on till the first lights of dawn appeared pink in the eastern sky."

Second-term senator Jinggoy, who was his co-accused in the plunder case, but who got acquitted, is not far behind, with a net worth of P193.58 million (or around $4.6 million) as of December 2012.
