Cebu2You October 2011 Camp Lapu-Lapu Elementary School Feeding We continue to feed children at this school every Monday. Our original feeding was 300 and it has grown to over 400 now. The morning and afternoon 1 st grade classes will merge in October, increasing the number of students we feed to nearly 600. Pray for God’s resources as we need to add cooking pots, chairs, cups and spoons. The New Deck We have finally completed the deck , in our church covering the dirt . section We made a mistake and used the wrong paint and will be stripping the current paint and using the proper paint during . October It is nice not to stand in dirt / and or mud when . teaching Street Children Ministry We have begun ministering to some “hard core” “rugby sniffing” street kids every Sunday evening. We share the Word and noodles as we try to show them God’s love. It is challenging yet exciting to get to know these kids and their stories. Pray for perseverance in this work. Discipleship Class We have begun a discipleship class for those who are extra hungry for the Word and who want to grow spiritually. We are doing an extra in-depth study of the book of John. We are averaging 7-8 students per week. It is exciting to see people seeking so hard after God. 5th Annual Pastors and Workers Conference
,Again this year along with CC Cebu City and CC Mactan we are coordinating
.this event We anticipate close to 100 pastors and workers who want to grow
. ,nearer to the Lord Our theme this year
:based on Philippians 4 4 is “The Joy of Serving”. We will meet October 18- 20 at
the Eco- ,Tech Compound in Lahug Cebu .City
Major Change at SHCC Beginning November 1st we will make a major change in our ministry schedule. Because of growth, a need for more Cebuano teaching and a balanced workload, we will go to 2 services every Sunday with a Cebuano Service at 8am taught by Pastor Gerry Bascon and an English Service at 10am taught by myself. We feel this will help our growth and draw more new people to the church as we have new foreigners often looking for an English service and some locals who will only attend a Cebuano service. This creates a need for additional ushers, Sunday school teachers and will stretch our praise and worship team. Pray for this transition.
