as we are still in search of a

place to move and we are

making some leadership changes.

     The long anticipated arrival of the Summer Team 2012 from Calvary Chapel of Downey came to fruition on July 16 with 21 excited, prepared and ready Young adults arriving to come along side of us for 9 days. After meeting the challenge of getting the team, all of their luggage and our people into our vehicles we were off and running on an unforgettable journey. The next nine days were exciting as we joined together for evangelism, youth ministry, young adults ministry, home visitations, a Sunday service, a Mid-Week service, a Night of Worship, a 10th Anniversary Celebration, a Special Conference for Young adults, Youth and Young Professionals, a tour of Cebu, eating Balut (9 team members partook), shopping and a Heart Attack. Thank you Impact Generation, and CC Downey for sending them.

Tenth Anniversary Celebration On July 22, sandwiched between our Sunday service and our Night of Worship we celebrated our 10th year as a church. Almost 200 people, some from our past, attended the celebration. We served lunch including 2 Lechon Baboy’s (BBQ Pigs) and had many special activities. Some who have moved on came back to pay their respect, we had a raffle where we gave away ten 5 kilo bags of rice, ten gift certificates to a local grocery, ten food packs, 20 Christian books and ten fish face plates.

The Heart Attack   On Wednesday July 18, I went to my doctor because of shortness of breath. She did some tests and sent me to the lab for more. When I arrived home she texted me and told me to be admitted to the hospital for the test showed I had had a heart attack. The doctor and I were both surprised as my heart has always been healthy for my age and the fact I am diabetic. I was admitted into the ER where they did many more tests and then put in ICU for 2 days for 24/7 observation. During this time it was discovered I was anemic and needed some blood transfused. I stayed for 4 more days to take blood and continue testing. The lack of blood in my body, it was determined was the reason for the shortness of breath and the heart attack as my heart was lacking blood to pump In 2 weeks I will have a Angiogram for my heart to check the current condition after healing for this period of time. Pray that it shows no damage to my heart and the problem is over. Thank you for all of your prayers and thank God for His mercy as we have gone through this trial.

“Kindle The Fire” On Saturday July 21 Impact Generation and SHCC hosted a conference called “Kindle the Fire” to encourage Youth/Young Adults/Young Professionals to kindle the fire of their hearts for Jesus and for those in attendance who were not saved to kindle the fire of their souls with knowledge of Jesus Saving Grace. They saw dramas (Mimes) before each of five sessions, a puppet show, had fellowship, snacks and a chance to receive Jesus. The five sessions were “Who is God/is God Real?”, “Christianity: Religion or Relationship?”, “What God Do You Serve?”, “Purifying Our Hearts/Purity” and “Seeking Eternity”. About 150 attended from local churches and were blessed. Our Sunday service increased by 9 as a result of the conference and our Mid-Week service was increased by 10. Our “Night of Worship” on Sunday was filled to overflowing, again, as a result of the conference.
