CEE 112 ENGINEERING GRAPHICS -I(3.0 Hours/week, 1.0 Credit)

Introduction: Instruments and their uses; Multi-view projection, revolution and auxiliary views, sectional views, isometric, diametric and oblique projections; Perspectives: one point, two point and three point perspectives; Descriptive geometry: points lines and planes, parallelism and perpendicularly surfaces. Building drawing, Stair drawing.

CEE 113 ENGINEERING MECHANICS - II(2 Hours/week, 2 Credits)

Friction, Flexible cords, Graphical methods, Plane motion, Relative motion, Force system that produce rectilinear motion. Work, Kinetic energy and Power, Impulse and Momentum.

CEE 114 ENGINEERING GRAPHICS -II(3 Hours/week, 1.0 Credit)

Complete Building Drawing and Computer applications; Drawing for environment control elements, i.e. Septic tank, Soak-well, Inspection pits, Sewerage line, Underground water reservoir, Over head water reservoir, Internal water and sewerage line, Soil and rain water pipe from the building, Drainage, etc. Introduction to AutoCAD.

ENHANCEMENT : Autocad training to be offered by department during vacation if possible.

CEE 231 WATER TREATMENT (2 Hours/week, 2 Credits)

Major water impurities; Water Sources: Rain water and rainwater harvesting, Ground water sources: Spring, infiltration well, infiltration gallery, artesian well; Surface water sources: Intake and collection of surface water, Population prediction and water requirements; River water, pond water, lake water, Bangladesh and international water quality standards; Physical, chemical and biological treatment processes-sedimentation, coagulation, flocculation, filtration (filtration mechanism, slow sand filtration, rapid sand filtration, pond sand filtration, roughing filtration, house hold filter) and disinfections. Introduction to Advanced water treatment: Reverse Osmosis, Ion exchange, Membrane filtration, softening, gas transfer and aeration, adsorption, electro dialysis, fluoridation etc.; Arsenic, iron, manganese removal; Existing water treatment facilities in Bangladesh.

CEE 233 WASTE WATER TREATMENT (2 Hours/week, 2 Credits)

Vertical and lateral (wind and earthquake effects) load analysis of statistically indeterminate multistoried building frames by approximate method.
