Elon University: A Learning Community
By embracing the distinct intellectual heritages of thearts and sciences – mathematics and the natural sciences, the social and behavioral sciences, the humanities, andthe arts – and sustaining premier professional programsin business, communications and education, Elon hasformed a vibrant learning community.
At Elon, we believe the single most important aspect ofa quality education is the direct, personal interactionbetween a professor and a student. When combinedwith Elon’s strong commitment to study abroad, leader-ship, service learning, internships and undergraduateresearch, these encounters open the minds of studentsand professors, and transform the way they view theworld. The relationships that develop among studentsand faculty – in exchanging ideas, testing hypotheses, conducting research, and constructing knowledge – arethe cornerstone of Elon’s collaborative learning com-munity.
The liberal arts and sciences experience at Elon fostersintellectual curiosity, helps students learn to think criti-cally and analytically, improves students’ ability to com-municate, awakens a joy and passion for learning, andteaches students to be informed and responsible citizens.
CELEBRATE! 2007 brings together the stimulation ofscholarly pursuit with the exhilaration of creativeexpression. While CELEBRATE! is a special week rec-ognizing student achievements in academics and thearts, Elon offers many events throughout the year.
