It is a festival of lights and all hindus celebrate it joyfully. In this festival, people light up their hous‐ es and shops. During this festival, people worship Lord Ganesha for welfare and prosperity and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and wisdom. This festival is celebrated in the Hindu month of Kartika which falls during the months of October and November. Diwali is celebrated for five consecutive days and is one of the most popular festivals in India. Diwali comes exactly twenty days after Dussehra. It is a celebration of life and the occasion is used to strengthen family ties and relation‐ ships. It is celebrated by letting off fireworks by children. Temples are decorated with Diya's (Deepam) during Diwali. People light up their homes and shops with Diya's, to welcome the Goddess of wealth and fortune, Lakshmi, to seek good luck for the year ahead.
