We are rolling out our brand new Electronic Giving Service for the new year! This efficient, convenient program will make it easier than ever to support our parish! Forms are available inside this week’s bulletin and in the back of the church. Please call our Business Manager, Veronica Hill at the rectory for questions. Thank you and God bless!

In this weekend's readings, James instructs the early Christians on waiting. Are we patient in our waiting? The busyness and social excitement of this season makes us all feel like we’re in a hurry. To wait with patience is to take time in anticipation to grasp more deeply the reason for our waiting: the coming of the Lord into our lives. Patient anticipation prepares our hearts to be ready and our thoughts to be focused on the mystery of the one who will come and dwell in our midst.

Rochester Emergency Action Committee for the Homeless

(REACH) is back in the shelter business for a limited time. Last

winter, in cooperation with the Diocese of Rochester, REACH

opened a temporary homeless shelter on Prince Street. The Holy

Spirit rained its gifts on last year’s shelter. Over half of the

chronically homeless patrons who sought shelter at REACH Home

were placed in permanent housing because of your generosity!

This winter we anticipated the newly expanded House of Mercy

would meet winter’s increased demand for homeless shelter.

However, the new facility will not be available until after the New

Year. REACH Advocacy will cooperate with the ministerial efforts

of Redeeming Word Community (formerly the Mount Carmel

Church complex) to provide a temporary shelter at 59 Ontario St

(Mount Carmel Convent). This two month effort, aptly named

“The Bridge Home,” will provide a bridge to the opening of the new

House of Mercy on Ormond Street. If the Holy Spirit calls you to

participate in this two month ministry please contact Deacon Dan

Callan (Operations Advisor), [email protected] (233-1755) with

your offering of time, talent, or treasure. Our greatest concerns

are regular coffee, and money to cover the costs of significant

rehabilitation required of the building. Visit our site at http://

reachrochester.wixsite.com/reach and you can contact us at

[email protected] .

Hands of Christ Award

If you know a high school senior who has lived their Catholic faith through piety, community service and citizenship, please nominate them for the Hands of Christ Award. Applications are available at the church exits or contact Aaron at the parish office.

Dear Parishioners,

If you are filling out a blank donation envelope, please make sure you fill in the blanks as printed on the envelope, most importantly your name and address. We also ask that you please print your information clearly. We have many wonderful volunteers who spend hours sorting through donations and these small things help them immensely. These little efforts also ensure your donations are credited to you. We are so grateful for your generosity and want to make sure that we can give you credit for it!

Thank you and God bless!
