FIND THE RIGHT TRIP FOR YOU!All Northwestern Alumni trips have at least one professional travel director to lead your journey and handle the logistical details. Expert local guides and lecturers help interpret the culture and heritage of the area, bringing added educational value to your journey. While our trips traverse the globe and vary in itinerary, cost, and structure, here are the most common tour types you will find in this catalog.

River JourneysUnpack once as you set sail for ports of call in small towns and quaint villages. All river journeys include excursions in ports with expert local guides. Aboard the river vessel, attend lectures, relax on deck, enjoy the cuisine, or simply watch the scenery pass by from your cabin. River journeys typically have 150 to 200 passengers.

Ocean JourneysSail in comfort aboard the world’s very best small-ship cruise lines across the various oceans of the world. Most ocean journeys include excursions with local guides. Since our ocean sizes vary, so do our ocean vessels. They usually range from 100 to 700 passengers.

Expedition JourneysNot for the faint of heart, our expedition journeys offer our travelers the chance to get up close and personal with wildlife around the world. From small-ship vessels in the Galapagos Islands or Alaska to high-end lodges on Tanzanian safaris, these tours are usually smaller in size and have at least one naturalist throughout your trip.

Land JourneysStay in deluxe accommodations and travel by rail, deluxe motor coach, day cruiser, or cable car. Each mode will bring you into contact with the people, culture, and cuisine of the regions you are visiting.

Small Group: Usually under 28 passengers, these small-group tours provide an intimate, authentic travel experience with a high level of personal service.

Immersion Experiences: This type of tour allows travelers to unpack once and immerse themselves in their host city. Through various included activities, travelers get to experience life as a local. While travelers have a home base, they are usually transported by motor coach to different destinations in the itinerary.
