Catholic School Week

One Day Giving For Catholic Education

Today we kicked off Catholic Schools Week, which is our annual celebration of what makes education at All Saints Catholic School outstanding. We are excited to have an entire week of activities planned to show what our students are accomplishing and to celebrate our community.

This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.

Twenty years ago, Saint Pope John Paul II said to an audience of Catholic educators in New Orleans: “Yours is a great gift to the Church, a great gift to your nation.” Countless people in our country have been blessed by the gifts of Catholic education and Catholic schools continue to form Disciples of Christ while providing an excellent academic foundation.

This week, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is dedicating a one day giving campaign called: Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools, to support Catholic education.

Scheduled from 9:00 a.m. on January 30, 2018, through 9:00 a.m. on January 31, 2018, this day of giving encourages those who believe in the value of Catholic education to help support their local area Catholic schools.

All Saints Catholic School serves close to 600 students and relies on the generosity of those within our community who value Catholic education. Your continued support is vital to our continued growth and success.

We are asking everyone to please help us to continue to grow future leaders in mind, body, and spirit and join us in supporting All Saints Catholic School.

Archdiocese of Detroit Tuition Assistance

The application process for families wishing to apply for tuition assistance through the Archdiocese of Detroit Tuition Assistance program is now open. Applications are completed online only and, to be considered for the full amount of assistance, must be completed and submitted to the AOD by April 30, 2018. Due to administrative change to this program, the last step of this application now involves submitting a completed Pastor’s Signature Sheet/Form to All Saints Catholic School.

As a result, we recommend you begin the application process as soon as possible and submit the required form to the main office by Friday, April 13, 2018. This will give us the necessary time to complete what is necessary. If you are considering this process, please read the 2018 AOD Parent Information Letter for guidance on our website, under Admissions > Financial Aid.

Our third grade students had the privilege of being audience members for Mrs. Kaschyk’s sixth graders as they performed a choral reading of “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare. The third graders recently completed their Ancient Rome domain and were excited to hear the story of Julius Caesar retold. Their favorite part was the death of Caesar! This partnership between 3rd and 6th grades is a tradition our student look forward to year after year.

Classroom Happenings...

Our 7th grade students have been very, very busy in religion in recent weeks. Last week, bishops, heretics, and even the Pope were in 7th grade religion class to research and present early Christian heresies. Students used iMovie and whiteboards to retell parables of Jesus.

Saint Kateri Tekakawitha visited the kindergarten classes last week to discuss her extraordinary life as the first Native North American woman to be declared a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. St. Kateri and the students spent time discussing everything they’d been learning in social studies about the various tribes in North America, including their clothing, homes, and customs.

Varsity Bowling Update

JV Bowlers Rolls Into First!

Varsity Boys Win On Road...

Varsity bowlers took on St. Mary’s of Wayne this week. We had a strong first game from all bowlers and nearly everyone had at least one game over average. Roll Blue Thunder!

The Blue Thunder Varsity Boys #1 won a close one on the road as Mason Cone, Nick Lehrke, and Drew Bauman iced it with free throws with under a minute left in the game. Nick Lehrke led all scores with 13 points and Ben Spahn dropped 10 in the victory.

In an early season battle for 1st place, the JV bowling team was rolling thunder from the start and beat Our Lady of Sorrows 5-0 on Saturday. Everyone had strong performances with half of the team posting their best scores of the year!

Joseph Abramoski (101-85), Drew Cholak (88-84), Colette Griffin (106-76), Alberto Lopez-Coronado (72-84), Robbie Modrzejewski (123-102), and Jack Smith (122-128).

Great job!
