APPLEThe apple is one of the most popular fruits.The apple trees are deciduous and the fruit ripen in autumn.The tree has been known since prehistoric times in Asia and in Europe.There are a lot of varieties of this fruit for example the crab apple ,the apple with banana's taste and we can find more than 7,000 known cultivars.

The tree grows in hilly or mountainous areas due to more favorable climate. The apple has the color of passion and is considered the most 'sinful' fruit, as was the reason for the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise. In Greek mythology, apples were flavored with honey and believed to cure all diseases. It is indeed a great variety of fruit with beneficial properties.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away." They contain a fine blend of nutrients that gives special benefits to health. The apple is rich in vitamins, fiber, minerals. It contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin A, folic acid, biotin, malic acid. It helps in

digestion and burning fat. It's good to be consumed after a meal because of its valuable nutrients.

MYTHOLOGY Apples discovered by Alexander the Great became a symbol

of longevity, while an apple was the reason to develop Newton's law of gravity.

The "apples of the Hesperides" as they were called offered to their owner youth and immortality. They were first offered to Hera as a wedding gift when she married Zeus. Quite popular in Athenian wedding ceremonies.

    The "apple of discord" was in essence the apple of choice offered by Paris to Aphrodite and it was the main cause of the Trojan War.

Recipes Apple pie:

7 chopped apples 1 glass of sugar 1 spoonful of cinnamon1 cup of floor2 eggs1 spoonful of vanilia1 sachet of baking powder

Apple tart with caramel:

200 gr. of butter or margarine

1 cup of caster powder1 spoonful of cinnamon6 large apples cut into

cubes100 gr. Of chopped walnuts100 gr. crumbled couverture

(or drops)

For the dough:4 eggs

1 1/4 cup of granulated sugar

zest of one orange1 shot of cognac2 cups of flour
