Besig Chancel Choir Stewardship 2017 “As for Me and My House, We Will Serve the Lord” Today is the final week of our stewardship campaign based on the scripture passage, Joshua 24:15. This morning as we bring forward our pledge cards and our stewardship commitments, we reflect on our roles as workers in God’s kingdom. We SERVE others in response to the blessings and love God has shown to us. As members of our church family, we each fulfil a role in working within and beyond our church walls. Because we are trans- formed in Christ, we serve to change the world. We try to embody Jesus’ ministry into our lives and to love as he loved. In Dialogue with Wesley to be Relevant in Mission Today Lisa Katzenstein (printed with permission) mural 4’ x 6’ U.M. Global Ministries Offices Four quadrants are divided by the cross. In the upper leſt corner John Wesley passes the Bible to successive generaons and cultures. The mural explores themes such as: doing the word of God in acts of service (washing feet); abundance versus need (dinner table); and self-giving in witness and martyrdom (sketches). Another panel contains mission images from Lan America, Africa and Asia dealing with community health, educaon and agriculture. Six portraits portray Nelson Mandela, a major opponent of apart- heid in South Africa; Rosa Parks, a U.S. civil rights leader; Archbishop Oscar Romero, slain in El Salvador 34 years ago; Mohandas Gandhi, the non-violent Indian patriot; Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani girls’ educaon acvist; and Mother Teresa of Calcua, an Albanian nun who served the poor in India. In the lower right corner is a saddle, emblemac of the connuing call to carry the word of God and serve the world. It reminds us that the future depends on decisions made today. “As for Me and My House,

We Will Serve the Lord”

Today is the final week of our

stewardship campaign based on the

scripture passage, Joshua 24:15.

This morning as we bring forward our

pledge cards and our stewardship

commitments, we reflect on our roles

as workers in God’s kingdom. We SERVE

others in response to the blessings and

love God has shown to us. As members

of our church family, we each fulfil a

role in working within and beyond our

church walls. Because we are trans-

formed in Christ, we serve to change

the world. We try to embody Jesus’

ministry into our lives and to love as he

loved.
