Two Different PhasesA political system is a framework which

defines acceptable political methods within a given society. History of political thought can be traced back to early antiquity, with seminal works such as Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Politics and the works of Confucius.

A celebrity is a person, who has a prominent profile and commands some degree of public fascination and influence in day-to-day media.

Three Stages In Value Creation Process Between Politicians And Celebrities

Stage I :- The political party and politicians gain symbolic value from the image of celebrity-actors. The celebrity-actors’ image in fictional films is transferred and used in the real world by the politicians.Stage II :- The politicians use Celebrity actors’ endorsement to attract constituents’ interest, celebrity actors use their long term association and network with political parties/leaders to launch their political career(Towards the end of their acting career).Stage III :- The value is not created. At the end of the functional level, politicians and actors either win or loose the election.

Interactions between film and politics in India

• a celebrity using their celebrity status achieved in one sphere to develop activities in another.

• In India, we can observe this cross fertilisation between the realms of film and politics.

• Popular film stars play a very important role in attracting crowds to support specific political parties or politicians.

• In order to attract voters’ interest and eventually their votes, politicians in India tend to use film stars or celebrities from the film industry in their election campaigns.

• Hema Malini, once known as the 'dream girl‘ of Bollywood has campaigned for BJP and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has campaigned for the Samajwadi Party in the 15th (2009) Lok Sabha elections, in India

• film stars who are celebrities are well known due to media driven recognisability.

• this media driven social capital, which helps actors to attract not just crowds but association with politicians, is very interesting because celebrity film actors often play the roles in films that brings changes in the society in a positive way.

From actors to sportsmen and even ex-generals, political parties are roping in the famous to shore up their fortunes. But the question arises will they really work for common people or will they earn a ransom by contesting elections for political parties.

Is it degeneration in service to common people?

The sudden influx of celebrities in the political parties reflects the sorry state of politics. This has also reduced politics to a mockery. Do these celebrities realise that politics is an entirely different kettle of fish? The politicians may need stars, but the common man, who is going to decide the fate of the nation, needs little of their service. Are common people suffering from these celebrity show-offs?

ROLE OF CELEBRITIES IN INFLUENCING COMMON PUBLIC

From study it appears that as celebrities are good at getting the

attention of public, and are useful in commercial advertising,

their endorsements of political candidates affects the first-time voters. The first time voters are

always the young ones. They idolize them, which results in fetching more votes for the

political parties.
