The Cell ModelBy- Beth Barnett, Kassi Niver, and Taylor Medsger

Kassi Niver

Page 2: Cell model

Cytoplasm• We used the icing for

the cytoplasm fills up the cake as does the cytoplasm in a cell.

• The function of the cytoplasm is to

maintain the internal pressure of the cell.

Taylor Medsger

Page 3: Cell model

Mitochondrion• We used jello for the mitochondrion because

it had folds, when it was separated, like the

mitochondrion does.

• The mitochondrion produces an energy-rich

molecule called ATP that fuels most of the

action in the cell.

Beth Barnett

Ribosomes• We used the nerds for

the ribosomes because they are small and they can go where ever you

want them to

• The function of the ribosomes are that they

create protein for the cell’s needs

Kassi Niver

Nucleus• We used a jawbreaker

for the nucleus because it is round and

resembles the nucleus.

• The function of the nucleus is to control the other organelles in the

cell.

Taylor Medsger

Page 6: Cell model

Cell WallWe used twizzlers as the

cell wall because

• The function of the cell wall is to maintain the

shape of the cell.

Beth Barnett

Nucleolus• We used the inside of

the jaw breaker for the nucleolus because it is

on the inside of the jawbreaker (nucleus).

• The function of the nucleolus is that it

produces ribosomes.

Kassi Niver

Plasma Membrane• We used the sour gummy worms for the

plasma membrane because

• The function of the plasma membrane is to control what nutrients and waste enter and

leave the cell.

Taylor Medsger

Page 9: Cell model

Golgi Apparatus

• We used fruit rollups because you could easy make it into the shape of

the golgi apparatus.

• The function of the golgiapparatus is to group items

and package them into vesicles.

Smooth ER• We used plain pancakes

for the smooth ER because it looks like a stack of

pancakes.

• The function of the smooth ER is it synthesize lipids and membrane proteins.

Taylor Medsger

Page 11: Cell model

Rough ER• We used chocolate chip

pancakes for the rough ER because it looked like a

stack of pancakes that had ribosomes on it.

• The function of the rough ER is to synthesize

proteins.

Beth Barnett

Cytoskeleton• We used the pan for the

cytoskeleton because it held everything in place.

• The function of the cytoskeleton is to maintain the cell’s shape and to help the inside of the cell move
