Slide 3
Bacterial Cell Click on EACH diamond IN ORDER to label your
bacterial cell using the figure below. 1 2 3 4 5 7 6 For movement.
For cellular communication. Contains genetic code (DNA). Protection
from predators (WBC). Structure/Support. Contains everything,
regulates in/out. Where proteins are made.

Animal Cell
Slide 5
J. Nucleus - contains DNA with coded instructions giving cells
unique characteristics.
Slide 6
D. Nucleolus Inside the Nucleus, makes ribosomes.
Slide 7
E. Nuclear Envelope(membrane) - surrounds nucleus - has pores
to allow materials in and out.
Slide 8
H. Ribosomes - site of protein synthesis (follows instructions
from nucleus). All the little black dots are Ribosomes!
Slide 9
A. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) - transport &
modification of proteins. Like UPS of the cell!
Slide 10
C. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) - lipid synthesis, used in
detoxification in liver, & release calcium for muscle
contraction.
Slide 11
G. Golgi Apparatus - Packaging macromolecules for transport
elsewhere in the cell.
Slide 12
Z. Lysosomes - Filled with enzymes for intracellular digestion,
only in ANIMALS. (bacteria, worn-out organelles, food, even the
cell they are in!) This is how a tadpole looses its tail. This is
how a tadpole looses its tail.
Slide 13
F. Mitochondria - Provides the energy a cell needs to move,
divide, etc. (powerhouse of the cell) 1000 per cell!!
Slide 14
I.Plasma Membrane - Protective, flexible barrier between the
cell and its environment regulates what goes in and out.
Slide 15
B. Cytosolthe fluid inside cell. B. Cytosolthe fluid inside
cell. Cytoplasm = (Cytosol + organelles inside) The area between
the nucleus (and all other organelles) and the cell membrane.
Slide 16
Cytoskeleton maintains cell shape also moves organelles around
internally, only in Animals.

more!!
Slide 18
K. Chloroplasts - Contain chlorophyll and use the energy from
the sun to make food (photosynthesis)
Slide 19
Cell Wall - Provides and maintains shape of plant cells -
STRONG (contains cellulose)
Slide 20
Vacuoles - Stores materials like water, food, other nutrients
and waste products (larger in plants)
