QUILT 1
CUTTING
1. From fabric 1 cut:20 x 2⅝" x 6⅞" (block 1a)64 x 2⅝" x 2⅝" (block 1b)5 x 2⅝" x 2⅝" (block 1a)
2. From fabric 2 cut:48 x 3½" x 3½" (block 1c)
3. From fabric 3 cut:48 x 2½" x 5⅝" (block 1c)
4. From fabric 4 cut:32 x 2⅝" x 6⅞" (block 1b)40 x 2⅝" x 2⅝" (block 1a)8 x 2⅝" x 2⅝" (block 1b)
5. From fabric 5 cut:24 x 4⅞" x 4⅞" cut in half diagonally once (block 1c)
12 x 2½" x 2½"6. From fabric 6 cut:
48 x 3⅞" x 3⅞" cut in half diagonally once (block 1c)7. From fabric 7 cut:

MAKING UP THE BLOCKS
Block 1a Block 1b
Lay out the fabric pieces for block 1a
Start with the centre of block, sew the squares in rows and then the rows together to make a larger square
Next stitch the small triangles to each side of the square, adding the last triangle to the top of each of the corner pieces
Sew then to the fabric strips 2⅝" x 6⅞". Stitch two of them to the block, the other two sew a triangle to each end to complete the block. Make 5 in total
Block 1b is made in the same way. Make 8 in total
Block 1a and 1b are made up the same way, it is the fabrics that are placed different ways in the blocks
Block 1c
On strips 2½" x 5⅝" you will need to cut a 45º angles from two of the corners
Sew the triangles to each side on two of the strips and the two strips to opposite sides of the square
Next sew all three pieces together to make the centre square
Take your square and sew a triangle each side of the square. Do this to all four corner pieces. Stitch to the block centre. Make 12 in total
MAKING UP THE QUILT
Lay out the blocks as in the main diagram and sew in rows, next sew the rows together to complete the quilt top
COMPLETION
Make quilt sandwich with quilt top, wadding and backing
Pin or baste layers
Quilt as desired
