    MAKING UP THE BLOCKS

    Block 1a Block 1b

Lay out the fabric pieces for block 1a

Start with the centre of block, sew the squares in rows and then the rows together to make a larger square

Next stitch the small triangles to each side of the square, adding the last triangle to the top of each of the corner pieces

Sew then to the fabric strips 2⅝" x 6⅞". Stitch two of them to the block, the other two sew a triangle to each end to complete the block. Make 5 in total

Block 1b is made in the same way. Make 8 in total

Block 1a and 1b are made up the same way, it is the fabrics that are placed different ways in the blocks

    Block 1c

  • On strips 2½" x 5⅝" you will need to cut a 45º angles from two of the corners

Sew the triangles to each side on two of the strips and the two strips to opposite sides of the square

Next sew all three pieces together to make the centre square

Take your square and sew a triangle each side of the square. Do this to all four corner pieces. Stitch to the block centre. Make 12 in total

    MAKING UP THE QUILT

Lay out the blocks as in the main diagram and sew in rows, next sew the rows together to complete the quilt top
