droplets

Fog results from the condensation of water vapour into water droplets. The water droplets are formed around haze particles

what are called condensation nuclei, which have sizes ranging from 0.1 to 10 micrometers. Because of surface tension on the

droplet, the air would have to be supersaturated in order to avoid the formed droplet from evaporating again. Hence, if there is

high enough supersaturation in the atmosphere, the particulates will gain enough energy to become activated and initiate phase

change from gas form to liquid form. Activated fog becomes smog, which is a type of air colloid.



Theoretical Foundation

Solution for Smog Control through Mornitoring its Physical Properties

The study determines the physical properties of particulate matter and the correlation between size of PM and severity of smog,

such as the spectrum of surface and spectrum of volume. In order to determine the impact of the PM material in smog on climate,

weather, moisture, sunshine, curvature, dust pollution and their correlations with each other, a simulation of the entire process,

from haze and fog to smog, is needed to assess he impact of smog on physical properties of air colloids at various stages of its

formation. The knowledge from the study provides the theoretical foundation for the solution to smog control. Consequently, a

mathematical physics model simulating the formation and condensation conditions of the smog can be created and used to control

smog.

Project Budget Overview

Detection and solution for outdoor air pollution is carried out through

the sale of car-based and indoor air purifiers. Data regarding air quality

will be connected and transmitted to the monitoring centers through

the air purifiers. The total data on smog will be aggregated from all the

data transmitted from the various air purifiers in use.



Phase I : R&D, Installation Centres, and Propose Solution

Outdoor Smog Detection

- The cost for each city is: $250,000 x Number of Centres (Initially 5 Centres) =

$1,250,000

- Need to build smog monitoring centre in 300 cities across the country at a cost of:

300 x $1,250,000 = $375,000,000

- Management team, R&D team, R&D budget: $5,000,000

- Total cost of outdoor smog monitoring system: $380,000,000

- Air purifiers are connected wirelessly to the monitoring centres
