in 1790 and every 10 years since then in the US. • 1890 “tragedy of immense

proportions” • Other Losses e.g. NC 1790 Caswell, Granville &

Orange; Virginia 1790 & 1800.• State Census, e.g. NC 1785-1787, per 1783

resolution of the Continental Congress.

• Questions Usually different, 1800 &1810

• 1790-1840:– Location, head of household, number of persons

• 1850-1930:– Location, name, gender, age, race, occupation

• BONUS, BONUS, BONUS

1850: names all free, occupation, youth age fraction, birth place

1860: school attendance & literacy, pauper or convict

1870: all-inclusive, race Chinese & Native-American [In], voting rights

1880: street name & #, relationships, parents birthplace, marital status

1900: month & year of birth, # years married, # of children, Owned or Rented.

1910: naturalization status, Civil War veteran, English spoken in the home

1920: less detailed marriage, year naturalized, temporarily out-of-house

1930: age @ 1st marriage, military service in war/s, own a radio set

AND

1940: 02 Apr. 2012 [countdown 500 days], digital release, 43 questions, e.g. religious background

Special Schedules: Agriculture, Industry & Manufacturers, Mortality, Slave
