Letter from the President
3
Hey guys! My name is Tommy Nguyen and I will be
your first ever Key Club President.
I hope that all of you guys are as stoked as I am for
the school year. I’m looking forward to getting to know
each and every one of you to create bonds and to have
a great experience!
My goal is to inspire all of you to dedicate yourselves
and find your passion in service as well as gain leadership
skills along the way.
DIVISION 66 July DCM Recap
On August 2nd, our club officers attended an Officer Training Conference
at Gresham Library. Neighboring officers within Division 66 also attended this
meeting (Clackamas, Corbett, Gresham, Sam Barlow, and Reynolds)! There,
Division 66 Lieutenant Governor Brian Le and Convention Aid Ryan Miura gave
some very helpful information; Information such as the basics of Key Club, the
duties each officer position has, charities, and much more were discussed.
Overall, we were able to receive a thorough in look of Key Club. Shout to Brian
and Ryan for always being the real MVPS!
After the conference, a barbeque was held! Together, Division 66 and
Kiwanians along with friends from Divisions 44, 62, 64 and 65 gathered for a fun
filled day. During a Miracle Minute, we were able to raise $91 for the ELIMINATE
Project! 50 mothers were provided enough money to receive vaccinations. From
ice breakers to grubbing out on some delicious food, the day couldn’t have
end any better!

Seattle Rally Recap
On August 4th, Key Clubbers within Western Washington and a few
other areas in the PNW gathered at Auburn Mountainview High
School. The day was full of spirit battles, icebreakers, workshops, and
pizza. With the help of all 340 Key Clubbers, we raised $475.15 during
a Miracle Minute! 264 babies were saved. Talk about a Magical
World of Service!

Following the 23rd day of August, Centennial Key Club held their very
own car wash at Burgerville. The day was hot and sweaty, but we
persevered along with the help of friends from Douglas and
Clackamas!
Centennial Car Wash Recap
9
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help Centennial
Key Club’s car wash! After spending 5 hours out in the hot summer
day, we were able to raise a fair amount of money. The money we
fundraise will go out to our club, the ELIMINATE Project, spirit gear,
DCON, social events, and more!

Did you know that in every 9 minutes, a baby dies from a disease called
MNT? MNT (maternal and neonatal tetanus) is caused when tetanus spores,
found in soil, come into contact with open wounds during birth. Both the
mother and baby become affected due to this contact. Every day, MNT has
claimed the lives of 160 babies. This equals to the deaths of nearly 60,000
babies each year including many women.
To fight against this horrible disease, Kiwanis International and UNIFEC joined
together in an effort to not only decrease the number of deaths, but to
eliminate MNT all together. Thus, the ELIMINATE Project came into play. Just a
US$1.60 provides enough money for a mother to receive a vaccination for
her and her future babies.
As of now, only 25 countries remain with MNT. The campaign goal is to raise
US$110 million by 2015. Through fundraisers, Miracle Minute, school projects,
and many more joint efforts, Key Club International has helped raise a total of
US$54 million as of 2014. We are so close and not even far away from fulfilling
our goal! To find out on what you can do to help end this horrible disease, visit
the Eliminate Project website or Facebook page.
