Physical Therapy Aide

•What is a physical therapy aide?

– The Physical Therapy (PT) Aide is generally responsible for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients. Under the direction of a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant, an Aide will provide services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

Career Outlook (BLS.gov)

• According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of physical therapist assistants and aides is projected to grow 30 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.

• Salaries vary depending on experience, hours, and location. The median annual wage for physical therapist aides was $27,910 in May 2017.

• Demand for physical therapy services is expected to increase in response to the healthcare needs of an older population and growing rates of chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

Physical Therapy Aide Career Path

• As a physical therapy aide, you have many options to grow professionally and expand your career. There are two types of physical therapy career paths you can follow:

– Broadening your Role

• Become a physical therapy assistant (2 year degree program)

• Become a physical therapist

– Shift your focus

• Become an office manager

• Become an educator

• Become a thought leader, consultant, speaker or sales representative

• 50-hour program, ONLINE

• Non-credit program

•Summer 2020 June 8 to August 5, 2020

• Requirements: Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent to enroll in the program

– You have 3 business days prior to the start of class to contact the school and cancel the class to receive a full refund. Evaluation and Grade Determination

Student Performance will be evaluated utilizing the following analysis:

• Attendance and class participation

• Final Exam

It is vital that each student recognize this course is a pass/fail class.

Refund Policy

School of Continuing Education Refund Policy

• 100% refund up to three business days (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) prior to the start of the class. No refunds will be granted after this time. No-shows do not constitute cancellation.

• Requests for exception to the refund policy must be stated in writing on a General Petition or letter to the Dean, Continuing Education Department and submitted to A-201 within one calendar year of the semester in dispute.
