Central Carolina Driving Club Happy Holidays 2009 Have a Merry Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa….and
any other holiday you celebrate …..
President’s Message:
Best wishes for this Holiday Season….. My retirement is 12/31. After that I hope to have some breathing room. After 12/31, please use my home email address, [email protected] instead of my work email. My phone numbers remain the same. We elect officers every 2 years. The time has come to do that again. Anyone interested in being on the nominating committee should let me know. Also, anyone volunteering to be an officer should let me know and I'll pass their info on to the nominating committee! Marilyn and I plan to put on a pace event at "The Farm" in February if it ever stops raining long enough to work on the course! Sandy Thompson and Bonnie Hines hosted a drive at Sandy's Farm last month. I heard it was a blast and the trails were beautiful! Rebecca Jones' pony FCL Just a Miracle and my horse, KSG Highlight in Bronze (driven by Dede Bushneck), won the Junior and Senior carriage horse high point awards from the Virginia Carolina Morgan Horse Club. Congratulations Rebecca and Dede! I hope everyone is able to enjoy some extra time off to relax, visit family and friends and DRIVE during the holidays!
FCL Just A Miracle Wins AMHA's Mid-Atlantic Driving Challenge
After a summer of tight competition, FCL Just A Miracle (Just-A-Nod
Capriole x Harvest Carolon) finished the season with enough points to be
named the AMHA Mid-Atlantic Driving Challenge Champion! In celebration of
AMHA's 100th anniversary and in partnership with the American Driving
Society, Driving Essentials, Inc. sponsored this challenge.
Four Morgan shows were included in the series where Morgan exhibitors
earned points: Mason-Dixon Classic, Mid-A Morgan, Old Dominion, and New
York Morgan Regional.
Miracle, a 15-year-old bay mare, is owned and driven by 17-year-old
Rebecca Jones of Efland, North Carolina. Their many carriage driving
accomplishments through the years include wins at Citrus Cup Regional,
Southern States Regional, the Walnut Hill Carriage Driving Championship,
and a world championship at the Grand National.
Ending the Challenge close behind FCL Just a Miracle in points was
Randallane Beaubrook (Equinox Beaubrook x Ryegate Tiffany) and
owner/driver Leigh Semilof of Sodus, New York. Beaubrooke is a 13-year-
old black mare that has carriage driving success at both Morgan shows and
the competitive Walnut Hill Carriage Driving Championship.
Jones and Miracle will receive a driving whip, gloves, and bragging rights!
Now is the time to renew your membership ….

I would love to have any links that members feel are important, pictures from past (and recent) events, and maybe a write up on any of the recent activities. If people have any comments or changes for the website I would love to hear about them. Pictures of events and photo bylines would be great…we’ll republish the guidelines …see below www.carolinadriving.net/ccdc Picture Guidelines-Thanks! Jim Bell has agreed to create a page on our website for pictures of our members and their driving equines. He needs electronic photos - preferably resized (not 3 mb), but he can resize them if he needs to. I would suggest a brief write-up of the picture including the name of the person/people in the cart/carriage, the name of the equine (registered and call names), the type of equine, the type of vehicle being driven and the location where the picture was taken if applicable (such as the name of a certain driving event). Additionally, please send me the info as well: Jim Bell: [email protected]; Valerie Ball: [email protected]
