CENTRAL PARK CENTRAL PARK IS THE LARGEST PARK IN THE BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN, IN NEW YORK. LOCATED IN UPTOWN, IN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN THE TWO RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS, THE UPPER WEST SIDE AND THE UPPER EAST SIDE, WHICH GET THEIR NAME FROM THEIR POSITION RELATIVE TO THE PARK. EVEN THE STREETS SURROUNDING IT TAKE ITS NAME: CENTRAL PARK WEST, CENTRAL PARK NORTH, FIFTH AVENUE (TO THE EAST) AND CENTRAL PARK SOUTH. CENTRAL PARK IS AN OASIS FOR RESIDENTS WHO LIVE IN THE SURROUNDING SKYSCRAPERS AND WAS OPENED IN 1856 AND DESIGNED BY FEDERICK LAW OLMSTED. THOUGH THE PARK LOOKS NATURAL, IT IS LARGELY MAN-MADE.

SPORTCentral Park is perhaps the most loved Park by athletes 9.7 km of perimeter, is a haven for runners, even at an amateur level, cyclists and pattinator.Many other professional races are held in the Park, including the recent "Men's s8k Championships". A long tradition of horseback riding has been kept alive by the Claremont Riding Academy, closed in 2007. In the northern part of the Park between 106th and 108th, is a large ice rink, the Lasker Rink and Pool, which turns into outdoor swimming pool in summer and is used by local residents. Famous also the southern zone, where you can train comfortably approaches, as the area provided a perfect green with attached bunker. A paradise for golfers of all levels and ages.

SHOWSEvery summer, the Organization of the Public Theater in New York City organizes free shows outdoors, often hosting famous actors of theatre or cinema, in the Delacorte Theater, site of the summer activities of the New York Shakespeare Festival. Many, but not all, of the works represented are the work of William Shakespeare, and since its founding by Joseph Papp in 1962 are appreciated for their excellent quality.The New York Philharmonic Orchestra performs an outdoor concert every summer on the Great Lawn and the Metropolitan Opera presents two performances.

CLIMBINGAnother attraction of Central Park are its huge boulders. The climbers, especially boulderers, climb on the rocks of Manhattan, a special type of slate, sprouting out of the ground at certain points in the Park, even in quite considerable. There are about 5-10 points where the climbers themselves. The two most popular locations are Rat Rock and Cat Rock, both on the South side of the Park.

KIDSIn addition to its 21 playgrounds, Central Park offers dozens of activities for children, including performances by puppeteers at the historic Swedish Cottage marionette theatre. The famous Central Park Carousel has excited children since 1870, when it was built for the first time.
