Waiting, Defects, Over Processing and Over Production

Charter

1. Mission – To provide Berea College with heat and cooling in a highly efficient manner along with the highest level of customer service.

2. Process Description – Service technicians search the back storage room at Central Plant for parts required for a work order.

3. Problem Statement – Because the parts were not organized by point of use, type of part, or grouped by kind, the search consisted of looking through all bins/shelves. The search was only narrowed by experience and how recently it was last used. Organizing the material be type and point of use reduces search time and flags reorder requirements quickly.
