In this lesson we were invesgang visible light and how 'white' light is a mixture of the colours of the rainbow. Perspex prisms were used to split light into the different colours of the spectrum, similar to how rain drops disperse sunlight, creang a rainbow. Colour filters were used to produce different coloured light. These different colours were them 'mixed' together to invesgate how different colours can be mixed together to make other colours and also white light. Mr Ken Horley

Central School Lawn Bowls Knockout
Congratulations to Brian Peacock, Isabella Smith and Johnathon Taylor who represented Yeoval Central School at the Central Schools Lawn Bowls knockout last Tuesday. Congratulations to our Year 10 students who experienced working last week. I thank Mr Andrew Jones for organisation as our Transition Advisor. Year 10 will have the opportunity to experience another workplace in Term 4. Our senior students were assessed by their WAP Course Coordinators last week at the Construction day. I thank Mr James Sanders for his organisation and their teachers Mr Nabb from Tullamore. Well done to our Lawn Bowlers who had a great day playing against Peak Hill and Molong Central Schools: Isabella, Brian and Johnathon. I thank Mr Andrew Jones for his coordination of the Lawn Bowls day. Our Athletics Carnival assembly was a great way to celebrate the success of the day. Thanks to Mr Andrew Jones for his organisation and to all parents and caregivers who were able to attend. Congratulations to all age champions and to FARRER the overall winning house. Year 12 Construction On Friday 28th June, Yeoval’s Year 12 Construction students took part in an assessment day at Tullamore Central School. With Mr Nabb’s guidance students constructed a “mud kitchen” for the local preschool students. Year 12 demonstrated excellent teamwork in the completion of the group project. Thanks to Mr Nabb for his organisation in making the day happen and for organising the materials. Mr James Sanders

CAPA Camp On Monday 24th June I went to the Dubbo School of Distance Education for the annual CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) Camp. We had students from near and far. People from Dubbo and people from Moree.
We all arrived at 11 am for our first Session in our particular subject. We had over 15 students from Years 9-12 attend the Music class. We first attended an aural session to understand what an aural was and what to write in the HSC.
From then on we practised our performance pieces for our concert which was on the Wednesday. In our band we had: 2 Bass Guitarists 2 Acoustic guitars 1 Electric guitar 1 Ukulele 1 Tuba 1 Bass Trombone 2 Violinist 1 Flute 4 Female singers 1 Male Singer 2 Pianists Plus our drum was on a backing track. We performed: Valarie - Amy Winehouse Fix You - Coldplay Anxiety - Julia Michaels I Don't Care - Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber Sucker - Jonas Brothers Perfect - Pink Me - Taylor Swift Stop - Spice Girls The Photography class came in on Tuesday to take live photo shots. Thanks to Mr Smith, Mrs Braithwaite and Mr Butler from Dubbo, for organising the music side of CAPA Camp. Plus thanks to Mrs Johnson for organising it as well. It was an awesome experience. Athletics Carnval

After two previous attempts we finally received a sunny day to have our Athletics Carnival. Attendance, participation and enthusiasm were all fantastic and the Yeoval Central School community should be very proud. Thank you to all of those people who assisted in the smooth running and organisation of the day. The P&C for keeping all out students, staff and parents well fed. Bruce Lees and Ben Lee for the marking of the 100 metre track. The YCS staff for their expert officiating, pre carnival organisation and support of our students. The House Captains for their enthusiasm and organisation. All parents who came to support. The students who were dressed magnificently, supported their house enthusiastically and
performed with great spirit. Congratulations to the following secondary students who will represent Yeoval Central School at the Western School Sports Association Secondary Athletics Carnival on Friday August 2.

The Gobondery / NARRAF carnival will take place on Tuesday August 13 at Barden Park, Dubbo. Primary students will be notified of their selection during Week 1 of Term 2. Yeoval Central School is organising this carnival and the P&C would appreciate the support of parents in the running of the Barden Park canteen on the day. It is expected that there will be approximately 300 people in attendance on this day. The Western School Sports Association Primary Athletics Carnival on Friday September 13. Primary students qualify for this carnival through the Gobondery / NARRAF Carnival.

What a fantastic week Year 10 had last week on Work Experience. Students selected a wide variety of
placements based upon their personal interests. The ability for students to experience a week in a work
place is a valuable step in developing knowledge of different professions and a taste of a full week of

Student Learning
Stage 6 Mathematics Stage 6 Mathematics had a study day at Peak Hill during Week 4 of this term. Year 12 Standard 2 have been studying Annuities and Non-Right Angles Trigonometry. They completed an assessment task, which allowed them to use a learning log to assist with formula and examples. Year 12 Standard 1 have been studying Investment and Depreciation, Compound Interest and Simple Interest and now starting Data Analysis. The class has completed an assessment task to investigate the process of purchasing a car. It included investigating a loan, insurance and registration. Year 12 Mathematics are studying Trigonometric Functions, finding differentials and integration. Also they are doing past papers to refresh the work they have already studied and become familiar with the type of questions asked in the Higher School Certificate. Year 11 Standard students are studying Measurement, particularly Energy and Mass. Looking at the amount of electricity appliances use and to become familiar with the units and terminology used. They completed an assessment task on finding perimeter, area and volume of composite shapes. Part of the assessment was calculating the perimeter of a mouse house, creating a garden bed that had an unusual shape, finding the amount of soil to fill the garden. The photo is using a garden plot that has three straight edges and one curved edge. The task was to find the area of the shape by using the Trapezoidal Rule. Year 11 CEC course have been investigating number patterns and the relationships between numbers. Mrs Elaine Bates

YEAR 10 STEPS TO UNI FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS
This book was distributed to Year 10 students. It aims to help Year 10 students think about the next two years and make the best decision for successful study in senior school and beyond. Although there are many pathways to university, TAFE, further education and employment, choosing the right course at school can make it easier to enter and succeed at tertiary level.
Year 12 UAC GUIDE 2019-2020
The UAC Guide 2019 -2020 was distributed to Year 12 students earlier in Term 2. The University Adnission Centre assists students by: Calculating the ATAR for eligibe HSC students in NSW. Processing applications to participating Universities. Processing equity program on behalf of Universities Students in Year 12 have been shown the process of applying to University through UAC. The TAFE NSW Career Guide provides a snapshot of what is offered through TAFE NSW. It provides information about the courses available, pathways to success and students support services. The TAFE NSW Guide 2020 is not yet available, however, information for 2020 can be found at https://www.tafensw.edu.au/ Students in Year 10 will be making decisions about their Year 11 subjects for 2020 in Week 5 of Term 3. Therefore, it is a good time to start using these resources to investigate your options. I will be showing students how to use these resources in early Term 3, however, students and parents can start to explore these resources over the holidays.
