Central Tiger Tales A Leader in Me School - August 2018 A Message From Your Principal Dear Central Parents, Our Central Staff Family has grown this year and we are very pleased to have such a talented team of educators and support personnel. New to our Instructional Team are: Lydia Sturm, 3rd grade; Holly Susong, 2nd grade, and Andy Olson, Physical Education. The Special Education team has grown to include two new Instructional Assistants - Mikki Folden and Nancy Norman. Also, you may have noticed that Phyllis Leach has transitioned to the role of Secretary this year, and Connie Bruder is serving as our new Building Assistant. All are here to serve our Central Elementary Tiger Cubs and provide a positive learning experience each and every day! Introducing Central's New Teachers

Meet Mrs. Susong!Mrs. Susong is the newestaddition to our 2nd gradeteam! She has been marriedfor 16 years and has 3children. She graduated fromIUPUI and loves spendingtime with her friends andfamily, traveling, watchingmovies and she loves food. Afun fact about Mrs. Susongis that she was a singer anddancer most of herchildhood!

Get to Know Mrs.Sturm!Mrs. Sturm is excited to be apart of our 3rd grade team!This is her 8th year teaching,and in addition to teaching3rd grade she has alsotaught Kindergarten. Sheenjoys gardening, exercising,cooking, crafting, andreading. She graduated fromPurdue University and herfavorite teams are theBoilermakers and Cubs!

Welcome Mr.Olson!Mr. Olson is our new PEteacher! He has a wonderfulwife and 2 children, Ainsleywho is 4 years old and Arlowwho is 1 years old. Hegraduated from PurdueUniversity and is also proudto be the offensivecoordinator for Lebanon'svarsity football team. GoTigers!

Volunteering, Field Trips, and LunchTo give plenty of time for all of the Criminal History Review forms toclear, the lunch room will not be open to visitors until the week ofSeptember 17th. You mush have this approved form on �le in orderto eat with your student, volunteer in a classroom, or be a helper ona �eld trip. We look forward to having you visit your students and

Dress Code RemindersA few quick reminders about the approved elementary school dress codefor those that are new or just need a quick refresher.The following things may not be worn at the elementary school:

No open-toed footwear.No shirts without sleeves. Sleeves must extend past shoulder andmust not show underarm.All shorts, pants, and skirts must reach mid-thigh or longer.No shorts may be worn during 2nd and 3rd grading periods.

These are just a few standards that we have noticed in the �rst few weeks of school but you can readall of the standards in the elementary student handbook located here.

How to Handle MedicationAll Medication needs to be brought to the school by a parent orguardian. No medication should travel in a backpack to school withthe exemption of diabetic supplies, epi pens, diastat and inhalersthat have a written prescription from a doctor. A medication releasewill need to be signed by the parent/guardian before any medicationcan be given at school. Medication must be in original packagingand must not be expired.

RaisingMealworms!Central's 4th graders havebeen raising mealworms fortheir Foss ScienceEcosystem Lab.

Learning AboutCyber Bullying!During our �rst few weeks ofschool our 3rd, 4th, and 5thgrade students alsoattended a session on CyberBullying.

A Rainbow ofColors!The entire school has beenwearing a different color forthe last few weeks to helpour Kindergarten studentslearn their colors. It has beena "rainbow" of fun.
