Cera Dynamics LtdCera Dynamics Ltd (CDL) is the Technical Glass division of the James Kent Group of companies, specialising in highly-specified glass compositions and customised particle size distributions.

We produce high purity glasses on kilns that are constructed to our own unique and environmentally conscious design. Traditional “Open Fired” methods of melting glass can lead to the loss of volatile but vital chemical components from within the glass. Our kilns operate using the “Cold Crust” method of melting; this helps to lock in those volatiles that are part of the glasses composition.

Along with both wet and dry grinding systems, and spray-drying, CDL can offer technical powders with bespoke particle size distributions.

Inert Glasses Cera Dynamics produces Barium Oxide based glasses for typical composite applications as well as developing new formulations for future novel composites. With our melting and grinding facilities we are able to offer custom compositions or particle-size distributions based on the glasses below.

Our grinding process produces a clean and highly-transparent powder, suitable for the most demanding of applications.

Reactive GlassesCera Dynamics is capable of producing a wide range of reactive glasses. Our kilns are specially designed to produce fluoride-containing glasses with almost no loss of volatile components. We can supply bespoke formulations to a customers individual requirements.

We offer the following tried and tested compositions as a starting point.

Our reactive glasses are available as glass frit (water-quenched glass) or ground to a specific particle size distribution. The powders are spray-dried for optimum handle-ability without compromising their dispersion in liquids.

Grinding & Spray DryingWe use our own grinding process for the production of high-purity powders for dental and medical applications. The high-purity and specifi c refractive index of our inert glasses make them suitable for use in highly-transparent dental composites. With reactive glasses we can fi ne tune the reactivity of the glasses through control of the average particle size and the width of the distribution. The graph gives an indication of the extremities of our grinding capabilities. We can control both the particle size distribution and fi neness of our glass powders.

Our spray-drying process produces a powder composed of clusters of particles, loosely held together. This reduces the tendency of powders to separate and to produce dust, whilst not impairing the mixing with liquids.
