CERALOG® IMPLANT SYSTEM
DUAL SURFACEThe dual surface texture of CERALOG® is unique for achieving optimum soft tissue adaptation and the right level of roughness for optimized osseointegration. This is possible because of the high-tech manufacturing process of Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM).
INNOVATIVE ABUTMENTThe innovative PEKK high performance polymer abut-ment is ductile and offers an excellent biological seal.In addition, it has damping properties and reduces the stress concentration on the implant.
REVERSIBLEWith the CERALOG® Hexalobe implant, retrievable prosthetics solutions are possible – cemented or screw-retained crowns.
The demand for highly esthetic natural prosthetics increases everyday. The trend favors ceramic implant solutions with the highest level of biocompatibility. The high soft tissue com-patibility of zirconia is generally recognized. The CERALOG® Implant System is a mature system and has been in clinical use for years. The implants offer a high level of predictability and provide exceptional esthetic properties.
In 2006, the Swiss company AXIS biodental SA already began the research for the development of high performance zirco-nia implants in conjunction with Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM).
The fi rst clinical studies were conducted in 2007 and already used the current material composition and surface texture.Commercialisation began with the single piece Monobloc implant. The two-piece Hexalobe implant has been used successfully in the present confi guration since early 2013.
Ceramic implants will establish themselves on the implant market, not only for medical reasons, but above all for highly esthetic aspects. Osseointegration is predictable due to high-tech manufacturing processes and innovative surface textures.
ESTHETICSThe ivory color, which is close to the
natural tooth color, and the properties of zirconia support high esthetic results.
IDEAL CONNECTIONHexalobe – the ideal implant-abutment connection for ceramic implants. The torque is transmitted tangentially to the implant which allows a much higher torque compared to hexagonal connections, and also more rotational stability.

THE MATERIAL Y-TZP HIP ZIRCONIACERALOG® implants consist of ultra-pure yttrium stabilized tetragonal zirconia. They are manufactured by Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM), whereby both the outer geometry as well as the surface texture are already created in a mold before the sintering and HIP process. No abrasive treatment of the zirconia is necessary during this process. Only few companies worldwide are capable of managing this high-tech manufacturing process.
100% quality control: every single implant is tested optically, dimensio-nally and with appropriate mechanical loading in a controlled method.
DIFFERENT MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ZIRCONIA AND TITANIUM
CERALOG® HEXALOBE AND CERALOG® MONOBLOCFrom the implant to the crown: perfect natural esthetics, like a natural tooth. Options for treatment planning include the transgingival healing of the CERALOG® Monobloc implant and fl exible trans- or subgingival healing two-piece CERALOG® Hexalobe implant. The CERALOG® implant system is simple to use, thanks to the screw-retained abutment and the clearly structured surgical procedure. The ivory color, which is very close to a natural tooth, and the properties of zirconia support high esthetic results.
The implants are available in three lengths (8, 10 and 12 mm) and in one diameter (4 mm).

ADVANTAGES AND BENEFITS – IMPLANT-ABUTMENT-CONNECTION
• High level of user safety thanks to the connection design• High positioning precision due to minimal rotational freedom• No transfer key for abutments required• Ceramic-compatible force transfer when inserting the CERALOG® Hexalobe implant
THE DUAL SURFACE TEXTUREThe unique dual surface texture of CERALOG® combines two defi ned rough-nesses on a single implant, without the need for post-processing.
The endosseal area of the implant body has a micro-roughness with a Ra value of 1.6 μmto enable targeted deposition of bone cells. The neck area of the implant has a lower degree of roughness with a Ra value of 0.5 μm, which additionally optimizes the deposition of soft tissue.
Ra 1.6 µm
THE HEXALOBE IMPLANT-ABUTMENT-CONNECTIONEsthetics, quality of life and patient satisfaction are largely based on prosthetic elements. The perfect implant-abutment connection is of signifi cant relevance for the long-term, stable success of the restoration. The CERALOG® Hexalobe connection has been designed and perfected specifi cally for ceramic implants. Forces are transferred tangentially, enabling a higher transfer of force and high rotational stability.

CERALOG® ABUTMENT
The CERALOG® Implant System offers straight and angled abutments made of the high performance polyether ketone ketone (PEKK). The abutments are attached to the implant either via a titanium or gold screw. PEKK has a light color and is easy to process with conventional milling equipment.
made of the high performance polyether ketone ketone (PEKK). The abutments are attached to the implant either via a titanium or gold screw. PEKK has a light color and is easy to process with conventional milling equipment.
THE PEKK HIGH PERFORMANCE POLYMER
PEKK belongs to the polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK) family. These are high performance thermoplastics, which are required and used for extreme conditions, for example, in automotive engineering, the aerospace industry as well as medical engineering. Due to their chemical structure they offer excellent tensile strength, rigidity and hydrolysis resistance. In addition to its long-standing use in orthopedics, PEKK also covers a broad spectrum of indications in dentistry. For example, in restorations where stress shielding has to be reduced. The ductility of PEKK reduces the stress on the implant.
BIOCOMPATIBILITY AND STERILIZATION OF PEKK
The biocompatibility of PEKK implant material has been established by Oxford Performance Materials Inc. for long-term use according to the ISO 10993-1 standard. In an earlier study, it was demonstrated that PEKK particles are relatively free of irritation when compared to well known polymer implant materials such as PMMA or polyethylene. PEKK can also be steam sterilized.
PEEK VS. PEKK
The more familiar high performance polymer polyether ether ketone (PEEK) has been used in dental medicine dentistry for many years for temporary restorations, for scanning posts and for standard impression posts. This also belongs to the PAEK group of polymers (poly aryl ether keto-ne). The synthesis of PEKK was started in 1962 by the DuPont chemicals group, which since then has refi ned polymerization over the following decades.
The later PEKK synthesis was adapted by Oxford Performance Materials and Arkema, who initiated market introduction of the material into numerous industry segments. The major advantage of PEKK over PEEK is the higher creep resistance and its contour retention under stress loading.
CERALOG® COMPONENTS FOR SOFT TISSUE MANAGEMENT
The CERALOG® Hexalobe implant set includes a cover cap which can be placed in the Hexalobe connection during the healing time. The implant can also be covered with a cover screw (available separately). With both options, the implant can heal either in a transgingival or submerged method. Healing caps in two heights and two diameters as well as a temporary abutment are available for soft tissue shaping. These components are made of PEEK and they are designed for limited use.
CERALOG® IMPLANT IMPRESSION TAKINGWith the use of a transfer cap or impression post, impressions of CERALOG® Hexalobe implants can be taken both closed as well as open. Impressions of the CERALOG® Monobloc implants are taken via the pick-up method with a transfer cap. The impression components are made of the high performance polymer PEEK.

PLANNING – X-RAY PLANNING FOILS
CERALOG® SURGERY
The CERALOG® Hexalobe and CERALOG® Monobloc implants were developed for transgingival healing. The 1.5 mm high region of the implant neck is posi-tioned supracrestally during insertion. The Hexalobe implant can also be placed epicrestally by using the bone profile drill and deepening of the implant bed.
Healing can be both submerged as well as transgin-gival. The surgical set contains all the components necessary for the insertion of the implants.
