BBFC

0The BBFC is an independent, private, not-for-profit company which classifies films, videos on all physical formats (DVD and Blu-ray Disc for example) and certain video games, advertisements and trailers. The BBFC operates transparent, well-understood and trusted co-regulatory classification regimes, such as its digital video service, based on years of expertise and published Guidelines which reflect public opinion and the risk of harm; and is accountable to Parliament.

U~ Universal

0U stands for Universal which means that this is suitable for all ages but it is mostly for children as this include animated films or films that are based around happy-ever-after's.

PG~ Parental Guidance

0PG stands for Parental Guidance. This means that this is for General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for children so they will need to be accompanied by an adult.

12A~ 12 Accompanied/ Advisory

0This means that the films are suitable only or 12’s and older (cinema only). If children under 12 are admitted, then they have to be accompanied by an adult.

0This means that the films are only suitable for 12’s and older (non-cinema only).

0This means that the films are suitable only for 15’s and older.

0This means that it is only suitable for 18’s and older.

R18~ Restricted 18

0R18 means that the film is restricted to those aged 18 and older and only available at licensed cinemas and sex shops. The latter will not require a license to sell R18 films.
