Shon'ta Dwyer Director Center for Workforce Transition [email protected] 517-492-5580 This course will prepare an individual to be a nurse aide in a long-term care facility or home health care agency. This state-approved course will provide specific knowledge and skills required for a nurse aide to safely function in a long-term care setting. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to take the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Exam. In our Long-term Care Nurse Aide program we require 36 hours of clinical time, which is more than double the time that the state requires of a nurse assistant program. This exposes them to more experiences, and therefore the students are very well-prepared for being a quality member of the healthcare team. LCC students are taught to have an understanding of why they’re performing certain skills. Being at clinical for all of this time builds confidence in performing the skills which in turn enables them to place focus on how to genuinely care for the human beings that have been entrusted to their care. Nurse Aide skills are taught in lecture using discussion/demonstration, practiced and clarified in lab, and enhanced and appropriately performed in the clinical experience. BLS certification cannot be achieved through this course. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Tuition (Out of District) $1680 + Registration Fees $610 + Additional Materials $200 (est) = $2490/person Tuition (In District) $840 + Registration Fees $610+ Additional Materials $200 (est) = $1650/person Susan Schneider RN BSN Lead Faculty and Coordinator for CHSE Nurse Aide and PCT programs [email protected] 517-483-1568 The CNA program offered at LCC is high quality and includes theory, lab, and clinical as part of the educational process.
