1 OverviewCFASII is a Web interfaced Face Indexing & Matching platform.
It allows centralized or de-centralized architecture.
It combines several matching and detection algorithms in order to allow best matching results.
It allows multi-sensor environment to supply Face Recognition, Video Surveillance and License
plate detection.
CFASII supports multiple databases with unlimited number of registered faces. It supports data
export/import actions, enrollment from static images or video, and real-time alerts.
CFASII can "listen" to predefined cameras, collect / match face information and generate
matching reports. CFASII acts as control center and allows "VACAM SD" clients to connect as
de-centralized processing points. It allows real-parallel processing using smart client side
detectors.

FRS algorithm should be used in constant lighting conditions for best performance. It is recommended to use two templates: Day & Night. Lighting must be equally distributed on each side of the face and from top to bottom. There should be no significant direction of the light or visible shadows. Care must be taken to avoid "hot spots". These artefacts are typically caused when one, high
intensity, focussed light source is used for illumination.
2.2 PoseFrontal Pose: 15 degrees from frontal in every direction

Ex-Sight.Com CFASII Page 10
2.3 Face ConditionBeard, moustache and other changeable face features sometimes influence face recognition similarity
level. If you want better performance, please include face with beard and cleanly shaved face enrolled
with identical ID.
2.4 EyeglassesThere should be no lighting artefacts on eyeglasses. This can typically be achieved by increasing the
angle between the lighting, subject and camera to 45 degrees or more. If lighting reflections cannot be
removed, then the glasses themselves should be removed. (However this is not recommended as face
recognition typically works best when matching people with eyeglasses against themselves wearing the
same eyeglasses). Glasses have to be of clear glass and transparent so the eyes and irises are clearly
visible. Heavily tinted glasses are not acceptable.
2.5 Identification distanceIdentification distance is not limited while the image quality remains. The face will be recognized only if
the minimal distance between two eyes will be at least 40 pixels.
Not Recommended face position for matchin/enrollment

5.1.4 Tools:

Two algorithms are used to make the face enrollment. The first algorithm is used through detector1 and
the second trough detector2.
Detector1:

25/31
Ex-Sight.Com CFASII Page 25
Determine Rotation Angle Enables or disables the detection of face rotation angle. Setting this option
to "true" will allow better results with the price of lower performance.
Face Detection Threshold The parameter allows adjusting the sensitivity of the detection. If the
threshold value is set to a higher value, the detector will only recognize faces with sharp, clearly defined
details, thus reducing the number of false positive detections. Setting the threshold lower allows
detecting more faces with less clearly defined features at the expense of increased number of false
positives.Face Resize - Select higher value to increase detection quality, or lower value to improve the
performance.
FAR Value - This parameter allows adjusting the threshold value to determine if two matched templates
belong to the same person. The threshold is calculated at a given FAR (False Acceptance Rate) value. The
FAR determines the acceptable error rate when two different peoples templates are mistakenly
recognized as the same person. Decreasing FAR leads to an increase in FRR i.e. with low FAR it
becomes more probable that two templates from the same person will be determined as belonging to
different people. This value varies from 0.0 (means 0%) to 1.0 (means 100%).
Handle Rotations This parameter can be set to True or False. While it is set to True, it extends default
face rotation angle from -15...15 degrees to -30..30 degrees. It is worth noticing, that extended rotation
support is enabled at the cost of detection speed (3 times performance hit).
Detector2:
Face Confidence Threshold - Specifies the threshold which is considered when looking for faces in an
image. For each face candidate confidence parameter is calculated. With higher threshold value faces
are selected more strictly by the face detection method.
Face Quality Threshold - Identifier specifying the threshold which is considered when extracting facial
features from the image. With higher threshold better quality of face image is required to successfully
extract facial features. The value of this parameter can be in range [0...255]. The default value is 128.
Flip Video Image Horizontally - Flips image horizontally.
Maximal IOD Identifier that specifies the maximum distance in pixels between the eyes. Faces which
have greater distance between the eyes than this parameter won't be returned by the face detection
methods.
Max Roll Angle Deviation - Identifier specifying the maximum roll angle deviation from frontal face in
degrees. The value of this parameter can be in range [0...180]. The default value is 15.
Minimal IOD - Identifier that specifies the minimum distance in pixels between the eyes. Faces which
have smaller distances between the eyes than this parameter won't be returned by the face detection
methods. Recommended value: 65. Setting this value to a number lower then 65, will affect system
accuracy.
General Settings:
Application Path The path of the application.
Application Name IIS application folder nameLowest Value Of Red Zone The lowest value of the Red zone at matching.
Lowest Value Of Yellow Zone The lowest value of the Yellow zone at matching.
Max Best Results The number of the best results that will be displayed when Match is used.
Report Logo Path The location of the logo that will be displayed on every report window.
Server Name The IIS name of the server.
Similarity Filter Value in range 0..100. Only results with score, which is higher than this value, will be
