EIE Conferences and Events (a collaboration between EIE Group’s Management Centre and james grech risk – advisory – internal auditing) is holding the second consecutive CFO conference on the 20th of April 2012 entitled “The 2012 Malta Annual CFO Conference – Empowering CFOs to lead their business out of the economic turmoil. The conference’s key note address shall be delivered by Mr. Andrew Palmer, Finance Editor of the prestigious publication - “The Economist” magazine.

SPEAKER PROFILES

Andrew Palmer joined The Economist as Management Correspondent in February 2007, became Banking Correspondent in September 2007 and Finance Editor in June 2009. Prior to this he was at the Economist Intelligence Unit, a sister company, where, among other roles, he led the editorial team conducting bespoke research programmes, surveys and reports. Mr Palmer is a frequent commentator on radio and television.

Stephanie Vella graduated Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics from the University of Malta in 2002 and obtained a Master of Arts in Economics in 2004. She worked at the Central Bank of Malta within the Economic Analysis Office for three years. She is currently a freelance economic consultant and works as an assistant lecturer at the Economics Department of the University of Malta at a graduate level. As an economic consultant, she has worked on a number of projects related to Malta’s membership in the EU as well as a number of studies on small states and the concept of resilience and vulnerability. Ms. Vella has also worked on a number of cost benefit assessments in line with EU requirements required for funding.

John Ellul Sullivan is a Manager in the tax function of KPMG in Malta. After graduating as a lawyer from the University of Malta he read for a Masters of Advanced Studies in International Taxation, at the International Tax Centre, Leiden. John worked as a Teaching Assistant in Leiden, giving workshops on Fundamentals of International Taxation and Tax Treaties and now lectures on issues of domestic and international taxation for the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation and the Malta Institute of Taxation.

James Grech is managing director at j a m e s g r e c h risk – ad-visory – internal auditing. James graduated with a Bachelor of Accoun-tancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta in 2003. James is Certified Public Accountant and holds a Practicing Certificate in Audit-ing. He is also qualified as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and member of ISACA. He has gained experience in the review of cor-porate Information Systems processes and has carried out value-added reviews in accordance with applicable Information Systems auditing standards. James is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and member of the Institute of Internal Auditing (US). The CIA is the only internationally ac-cepted certification designation for internal auditors and is the standard by which individuals demonstrate their competence and professionalism in the internal auditing field.

SPEAKER PROFILES

Anthony Pace presently is a tax partner at KPMG working extensively in the area of banking and financial services, insurance, telecommunications, gaming and transaction services. On an ongoing basis, Anthony provides tax advice to clients as they grow and develop their business and also advises clients on any tax changes and the effects that these will have on their operations. Anthony was a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta for 7 years and acts as an examiner of tax dissertations submitted to the University of Malta in order to obtain the degree B.Accountancy (Hons).

Jonathan Dingli graduated Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) with first class honours from the University of Malta in 2002. He took on the role of Associate Director within KPMG’s Accounting/Advisory Department in 2012 after having worked as a Technical Officer and eventuallyTechnical Director for the Malta Institute of Accountants since 2005. Before joining the Institute he also worked for a number of years with KPMG in Malta and in Dublin during which he was assigned on a number of audits of high level clients both locally and overseas. Jonathan has been lecturing for the ACCA Advanced IFRS Paper (P2) for BPP Malta and BPP International since 2008, during which period he taught in Malta, Warsaw, Athens, Amsterdam, Jersey and in China. Interests include classic car restoration, cooking, wine making and outdoor adventure.

Amanda Holmes - Formerly a director at Unilever, a FTSE 100 company, Amanda Holmes has almost 20 years experience in a range of Marketing and Sales roles, from operational assignments to leading global strategy; managing across many cultures and geographies. Having successfully led, and worked in, many diverse teams in many complex situations, Amanda realises the importance of understanding and working with people, process and politics to deliver results. Although her passport is British, Amanda has lived and worked in seven countries, and worked closely with people from many more, benefitting from the endless variety of perspectives this has brought. Amanda has a Post Graduate Diploma in Executive Coaching from Henley Business School and is a certified NLP practitioner. She has a BSc in Management Sciences from Warwick University and is currently completing an MSc in Executive Coaching and Behaviour Change at Henley.

Charles Xuereb is a graduate of the University of Malta, a Fellow of the Institute of Accountants and holds the professional warrant to practice as a certified public accountant and auditor. He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining Farsons Group as Chief Accountant of the Food Chain Group. He was then appointed Group Financial Services Manager and assumed the role of Financial Controller of Quintano Foods Limited. In 2005 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer responsible for the overall financial management of the Farsons Group. He is a council member and Deputy President (Education and Finance Affairs) of the Malta Association of Credit Management.
