The ski materials are choiced to give them flexibility, lightness and an interesting surface. Every material involved in the build-ing are light, stiff and selected for their surface finish. Carbon forged is a synonymous oftechnology and it is used thanks to its stiffness, fast building process and a ready surface after mould-ing.Titanium is choiced because it is water resistant and 45% light-er than stainless steel.Apricot wood is involved to its resistance. It is a light and com-pact wood used from the ancients to make inlays. It’s color is pale yellow with dark veins with a smooth surface.

Materials

ProcessThe building process is innovative and really fast. The skis are built in aluminium molds and then cured under pression. Firstly the chopped carbon fiber layer and UD reinforcements are placed where necessary to contrast internal forces. Then a Ti layer is positioned make them stronger. Edges and the sole is placed at the end, just before mold closing. The sandwich is pressed and cured at 160° for 90 seconds. After their extraction the wood is glued. All the process takes less than half an hour every pair. Technology

The skis can be improved with optionals: Shock absorb-ers, phone charger, electric boots warmer can be

installed. Piezoelectic materials are involved thank to their ability to produce low voltage electric energy under

vibration (similar to skiing). Shock absorbers can be integrated into the sandwich to change inner flexibility

and, as consequence, curvature angle..Rechargeable Batteries can be placed under the plate in order to feed the Avalanche rescue system or a warmer.

It is usefull to melt the ice under the bindings.

ForcesThe skis are designed considering forces involved during skiing. They are reduce to the essential to be lighter and faster compared to commercial skis. During a turn there is a lot of energy into the ski body. It isn’t equal for both the skis and it isn’t also simmetrical into the same. The energy is in between the tip and the tail of the inside edge of the downstream ski. It follows a precise parabolic trajectory based three elements: pressure, turn radius and ski flexibility. The ski is designed to be more strenght .

Crossing Bridge

The left and right skis are not interchangeable because the sides have different thickness.. The inside profile is thicker in order to support higher power and to be more

precise during turns. The external side is thinner to be lighter and more controllable

FootprintThe skis have an inusual fooprint. It is tought to be as

smaller as possible on the snow. It is only where neces-sary and it helps to reduce friction and makes the ski

ultralight. There are unseen elements in the ski, eg. the snow stabilizer, under the first crossing bridge, that avoid

snow pulverization.

Swallow tailThe ski tail is inspired by swallow. It is long and it ends with two long tips. It provides lateral stability as the same as the small bird’s tail. It extends the ski reducing drag. Both the ski tips have the same thick in order to have enough strenght on the tails

during turns. In the middleof the ending part there is another

crossing bridge to transfer energy from inside to outside. Swallow

tail helps to reduce weight and it is a radius of curvature extender.
