19 Example 3

In a drilling operation major power supply is required by the hoistingsystem, rotary system, circulation system and mud cleaning equipment. Ifthe output horsepower required by the top drive is 2200 hp, the hoistingsystem, 2000hp, the circulation system, 2400hp, cleaning equipment,300hp and 20% of all is required for additional facilities, calculate thediesel consumption for a 25 days drilling operation and casing operation(in gallons). The overall engine efficiency, 𝐸𝑡, is 15% and transmissionefficiency, 𝐸𝑡ℎ, is 85%. Other data;
