    Our open challenges are organised by third party proessional tour

    organisers and are on a ully escorted basis. Any registration ee

    shown is payable to the tour organiser and covers their costs.

    In general, there are two payment options available:

    YourChallenge

    In the Minimum Fundraising option, you will be expected toraise a minimum amount o sponsorship rom which the tour

    cost is paid by the charity and the remainder is treated as ageneral donation.

    Any sponsorship raised above the minimum targetcomes direct to the charity.

    In the Sel Payment option, you will be invoiced directby the tour operator and you will be responsible or

    This challenge is to cycle the breadtho the UK across some o the mostspectacular countryside that Englandhas to oer.

    Leaving the West Coast we head inland,carving our way over the CumbrianMountains and southwards through theLake District National Park. From Kendal

    we head east, crossing into Yorkshire,through the heart o the amous Dales andonto our destination: the East Coast andthe historic town o Whitby.

    Cycling rom Lands End to JohnOGroats, the urthest possibledistance in the British Isles, is a classicchallenge that many dream o.

    Starting at Lands End on the south-westerly tip o England, pedal your waythrough Cornwall, over Dartmoor andnorth along the Welsh border, skirting theLake District into Scotland, via lochs andmountains to the North coast and JohnOGroats.

    In all we will cover 1000 miles, passingthrough some o the most stunning and

    remote countryside in the British Isles.

    This is a tough challenge but a abulousway to see the country, and one o themost rewarding things you will ever do!

    Cycling rom London to Paris is one oEuropes greatest cycle experiencesand a abulous challenge.

    The route is designed so that we will see

    as much o the countryside as possible, aswe ride through picturesque Kent, crossthe Channel, and continue through smallvillages and market towns in NorthernFrance.

    There will be long days in the saddleand some strenuous hill climbs, butthis challenge isnt just about distancescovered. This challenge is about groupeort, riendship and team spirit.

    As the group approach the Eiel Tower the nishing point we will all eel a realsense o achievement.

    Does the idea o cycling rom Londonto Paris leave you wanting a littlemore? Why not join us on the Londonto Geneva Cycle challenge andcombine two o the most popularcycle challenges or a truly memorableexperience!

    This route will start in London as we pass

    through picturesque Kent countryside,cross the Channel, and continue thoughthe market towns o Northern France to

    Paris. We then head o across rollingchalk hills, rolling woodland and throughmedieval towns until we reach the RomanSpa town o Lons-le-Saunier at the oot othe Jura Mountains.

    The challenge will nish with the hair-pinbeds o the Col de la Faucille (1232m), aclimb used regularly in the Tour de France.

    Essex Countryside Bike Ride

    Location: UK

    1 day Moderate/Tough

    Get on your bike or a great amilycycling event in aid o Little HavensChildrens Hospice - the annualsponsored Essex Countryside BikeRide.

    There is something to suit all abilities andages with three distances to choose rom:

    The 10 mile route starts at 11am and isgreat or beginners and amilies

    The 25 mile route is aimed at cyclistswanting to push themselves a bit urther

    The 60 mile route is aimed at those a bitmore experienced or people looking ora challenge

    The 25 and 60 mile routes start between8am-10am and take you along quietcountry lanes, passing through picturesquecounty villages.

    The 10 mile route will be amily-riendly,so its sae and suitable or all existing andaspiring cyclists. Cyclists under 16 must beaccompanied by a parent or guardian and

    wear a helmet. All routes start and nish atAnglia Ruskin University, Chelmsord.

    There will be rereshments, amilyentertainment throughout the day, music,medals or all participants, as well astop undraising prizes. There is also reeparking on site.

    Classic Cols of the Tour de France 5 days Extreme

    This is a short but extremelydemanding 5-day cycle challenge whichwill take us through the French Alps,

    and the toughest mountain climbsmade amous by the Tour de France.

    The stunning views o mountain peaks,hanging glaciers and alpine valleys willmake the twisting climbs worthwhile! Thechallenge ends with the toughest and mostrenowned ascents in the region: the Coldu Galibier and the hair-pin bends o AlpeDHuez.

    Conquering these mountains will earn youa lie-long sense o achievement and giveyou something in common with the most

    elite cyclists in the past 100 years!

    Our challenge takes us romVietnamese Saigon, now Ho Chi MinhCity, through the rice paddies andwaterways o the beautiul MekongDelta into Cambodia.

    We pedal on through this riendly countrytowards one o the most impressive sightsin South East Asia, the Royal Temples

    o Angkor. Our route takes us throughvaried, spectacular scenery and we gain aascinating insight into the regions cultures

    Ben Nevis Weekend

    Location: UK

    The Scottish Highlands are ull oenchantment and ancient history.

    You will be overwhelmed by the increasingsense o remoteness and the unspoiltenvironment as we make our way toFort William or the start o the weekend.

    Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation, Mountaino Heaven) is the highest point in the

    British Isles and stands at the loty heighto 1343m (roughly 4000t). Fort William,on the southern edge o the Great Glen,located on a sea loch, is our base orthe weekend.

    Hadrians Wall originally ran rom coastto coast and spanned 72 miles.

    Today we are let with only sections o thisamous landmark, which cuts through the

    This challenge will start at LanercostPriory, and we will trek or 25 milesalongside the only remaining sectionso wall.

    Jurassic Coast Weekend 3 days Moderate

    The Jurassic Coast is Englands frstNatural World Heritage Site and thelandscapes are truly breathtaking.

    Our trek starts at Durlston Head, on theclis above Swanage in Dorset, andwe head west along the South WestCoastal Path, trekking 23 miles during ourstrenuous weekend. The depth o history

    in this region is staggering and the scenerydiverse, but the steep climbs and descentsthat lie beore us demand our ull attention

    this rugged coastline oers very little fatterrain! This is a truly a worthy weekendchallenge.

    Three Peaks Challenge 3 days Tough

    The Havens Hospices National 3 PeaksChallenge is to complete, in just 24hours, the ascent o the three highestpeaks in Britain:-

    Ben Nevis in Scotland at 1,344metres

    Snowdon in Wales at 1,085 metres

    Scaell Pike in England at 978 metres

    Widely regarded as one o the UKs mostchallenging team events, this provides theultimate challenge o mental stamina andphysical endurance.

    Transport and driver throughout the

    challenge is included, as is use oequipment and a qualied mountainleader on a 1:8 ratio. Accommodationis provided on the night prior to thestart o the challenge and all ood and

    drinks throughout the event will beprovided. Each team will also get a CD ophotographic highlights o their challenge.

    Great Wall of China Trek

    Stretching 6000km in a dotted lineacross China, the Great Wall was begunin the 5th Century BC.

    As it snakes across the mountains itconjures up a sense o history which isdicult to grasp until you have had theopportunity to experience it.

    This trek is very varied, as we pass

    through woodland and terraced armland,

    and ollow the contours o the beautiulhills and mountains in remote areas northo Beijing. We ollow old sections o theGreat Wall, as well as restored sectionswith smooth fagstones and lots o steps!

    This challenge is physically demandingand oers abulous scenery and aascinating insight into a rich culture

    and history.

    Mount Kilimanjaro Trek

    The highest reestanding mountainin the world, Kilimanjaro is also thehighest mountain on the Aricancontinent at 5896m.

    Its snow-capped summit rises high abovethe dusty plains and huge permanentglaciers fow down rom the summit; theseviews are the reward or pushing yourlimits both physically and mentally. Thereare two treks available; the Machame routeand the Rongai route.

    Machame route:

    Our trek takes the less-troddenMachame route, allowing us to campand ully appreciate the splendour o our

    surroundings and the clear night skies.We pass through thick orest, moorlandand scree en route to the highest point,Uhuru Peak.

    Rongai Route:

    This challenge in stunning Turkeystarts in Gedelme as we head inlandaway rom the coast, and high up intothe mountains that tower above thesurrounding armland and coastline.
