Case Study Challenge Innovative Interfaces, Inc. has nearly 40 years in the software development industry. Previously, Innovative Interfaces began migrating workloads to AWS; however, the cost was higher than they had anticipated. After seeing the cost spike, they halted additional migrations to better understand why the cost was so high and what they could do to remedy the problem. Solution Innovative Interfaces learned about CC Analyzer, especially its flexibility to tailor analysis criteria and parameters per customer’s environment and configurations. CC Analyzer identified a 13% potential savings on all assets after the customer customized the assumptions and parameters based on their on-premises configurations. CloudChomp was also able to add functionality at the customer’s request to modify the right sizing rate of on-premises assets to present a more personalized estimate of AWS cost. Results Innovative Interfaces was able to customize their internal IT costs to properly reflect their on-premises TCO – so that an accurate comparison can be made to the AWS estimate. Furthermore, they were able to adjust the AWS TCO estimates to meet their compute, labor and network expectations through a simple interface which can be applied to different workloads. This includes changing the hardware refresh rate to match the company’s operational reality. With CC Analyzer’s resource right-sizing and TCO comparison data, Innovative Interfaces is now back on track for its additional workload migrations to AWS.
