Carolina Marketing Company, LLC, is proud to be the new owner of the Wilmington
Discovery Map. The publisher of multiple print products in Southeastern North
Carolina, including North Brunswick Magazine, South Brunswick Magazine and the
Brunswick County Discovery Map, Carolina Marketing Company purchased the
Wilmington map in February of 2013.
Discovery Map International, formerly Resort Maps, is based in Waitsfield, Vermont,
and has been America’s favorite tourist map brand for more than 30 years. The maps
are available in more than 100 popular destinations through the United States as well
as Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and Central America. The maps are popular for their full-color, hand-
drawn layouts and well-organized service menus. The company’s local franchise operators distribute more
than 25 million travel maps a year in popular tourist destinations.
“These maps provide a great service to visitors,” says Justin Williams, owner of Carolina Marketing
Company. “They are fun to look at, easy to use and informative.” Williams believes the quality of Discovery
Map International is a great parallel to the high-quality magazines that Carolina Marketing Company has
been publishing for the last seven years.
“Our advertisers get great exposure on our Discovery Maps,” says Williams. “It’s a great way for a business
to get their message out on our maps in a different way. The map user doesn’t have to flip any pages for a
business’s ad to be seen, it’s all right there around the map.”
For the summer 2013 season, Carolina Marketing Company will publish 200,000
copies of the Wilmington Discovery Map and distribute them in June to more
than 300 high-traffic locations in the Greater Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach,
Carolina Beach and Kure beach areas.
If you want to participate in this year’s Discovery Map, please contact
Carolina Marketing Company by April 9, 2013 at 910-239-8008 or wilming-

swing! We are now less than two weeks away from the 17th Annual Pleasure
Island Chowder Cook-Off. We have eight restaurants competing this year and
you are sure not to be disappointed. Once again, entertainment will be provided
throughout the day by one of the islands favorite bands The Mark Roberts Band.
There will be a Kids Zone and a variety of food vendors. So bring the whole family
for a day of fun and excitement!
Plan on helping the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce celebrate their
75th Birthday (1938-2013) on May 5th, 2013! We will be hosting a free concert
with Rhythm & Blues Great EnVision playing from 2:00-4:00 at the Ft. Fisher Air
Force Recreation Area. Come celebrate your ‘Cinco de Mayo’ with your friends –
admission is FREE, bring the kids, bring a picnic, bring your sunscreen! Food and
beverages will also be on sale at the Base. So let’s kick off the Chamber’s 75th birth-
day – Pleasure Island Style.
The 28th Annual Carolina Beach Music Festival is quickly approaching and will be taking place on Saturday,
June 1st. This year’s lineup includes Jim Quick and Coastline, The Craig Woolard Band and Spare Change. It is sure
to be a party that you do not want to miss! Tickets are on sale now so visit www.pleasureislandnc.org to get yours

The weekly fireworks and gazebo entertainment return on May 24th and continue through August 30th. The free
Sunday night movies by the lake begin on Sunday, May 26th and continue weekly until September 1st. So as you can
see, Pleasure Island is the place to be for fun and excitement all Summer long.
In case you haven’t heard the news, Buddy Guy will be the headliner for the 20th Annual Seafood Blues and
Jazz Festival. And as an added bonus, Wet Willie will be performing on Sunday! Buddy Guy and Wet Willie along
with 12 other bands will be performing during this two day festival. So trust me when I say this event will sell out
