New York: United Nations celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga. This time the Chancellor of S-VYASA Yoga University, Bengaluru, India, Dr. H R Nagendra led the sessions on both the days, June 20 & 21.

First day, on June 20th, in North Lawn, Yoga Session with Yoga Masters was held. The session started with the Video Message of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr. Amina J Mohammed graced the occasion. Swami Parmananda of Sivananda took Yoga Session and Dr. H R Nagendra delivered an address on Yoga.

Second day, on June 21st, Conversation on Yoga for Peace started with the Opening Remarks by

Ambassador Tanmaya Lal, Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. Later, Panel Discussion was moderated by Mr. Mitchell Rabin, Founder of A Better World Foundation.

Dr. H R Nagendra, Mr. Eric Bowman, Reformer and Peace Activist, Baltimore, Mr. Lila Lolling, Yoga Teacher Founder of DeafYoga Foundation Inc., New York, Mr. Srinivasan, Acharya, International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Mr. John Bennett, War Veteran of USA Mr. Madhusudan Balasubramanian, Founder and Virtual Reality Director at MYSTICS, were took part in the Panel Discussion.

From S-VYASA, Dr. N K Manjunath, Director of Research, Mr. H R Dayananda Swamy, Finance Officer and Ms. Smita Dayananda, Joint Secretary, accompanied Dr. H R Nagendra.

June 21: Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji lead around 50,000 people in marking the fourth edition of the International Day of Yoga Yoga Day on Thursday at the sprawling campus of the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun.

The Prime Minister was joined by State Chief Minister, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union Minister of State for AYUSH

Shri Shripad Yesso Naik.

The United Nations declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga in 2014 after Prime Minister, Shri Modi ji called for the day to be adopted as a Global Celebration of Yoga, an ancient practice that began in India more than

The official International Yoga Day protocol is practiced in fixed time from 7 am to 8 am in Vivekananda Rock, in the august presence of Dr. Nagaratna Didi, who joined with us to complete practice for one hour and followed by her blessings.

Dr. Chandrashekar, Dean of Academics, Dr. Sandhya, Dean of Yoga & Life sciences and Dr, Raghuram, Principal of SAMC&H, Mr. Sumanth, Co-ordinator of YIC, were present.

There were 500 participants, BNYS students, BAMS students, YIC students, Teaching & Non-teaching Staff, Therapy Participants and few neighbors were also present in the practice. All the participants were involved actively in the celebration of IDY Program which was followed by distribution of sweets & Guruji addressed about IDY from New York.

The program was ended with blessing from Dr. Nagaratna Didi, who explained, how June 21st is decided as International Yoga Day and its importance.

Mumbai Western Naval Command

Rajasthan created a World Record by bringing over a Lakh of People together at a Yoga Session led by Baba Ramdev ji in Kota. Earlier record was also created by himself in 2017 at Ahmedabad where he brought 54,522 people together. Along with Baba Ramdev ji and Acharya Balakrishna ji, Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ms. Vasundhara Raje Scindhia performed Yoga.

LPSC, ISRO, BengaluruLiquid Propulsion Systems Centre, ISRO, Bangalore had organized Yoga seminar and Yoga practice for all their employees on June 21st, 2018 in technical support with S-VYASA, Bengaluru. Morning 7 - 8am around 95 employees participated in yoga practice session. Mr Krishna and Ms Pallavi conducted practice session. Seminar was organized between 9:15 - 10:45 am. Dr Raghavendra Bhat delivered a talk on ‘Workplace wellness through Yoga’. All the employees attended the seminar.

NAAC Office, BengaluruDr. Sanjib Kumar Patra, an Associate Professor of S-VYASA was invited on 21st of June to deliver a talk on 'Overview of Yoga and its Practices '. International Day of Yoga function was inaugurated with the Chief Guest of the function, Dr. Patra, Director I/C, Dr. Latha Pillai and the Yoga Teacher Mr. Viresh. Director In Charge gave an inaugural talk and welcomed Dr. Patra and Mr. Viresh for the function. Later Dr. Patra delivered his talk for about 45 minutes for all NAAC staff in the seminar hall. Since his talk was meant for Non-Yoga professionals, it was well appreciated and the Institution decided to have a one-day seminar on various dimensions of Yoga for further motivation to its staff.

Following the invited lecture, the Yoga teacher of NAAC, Mr. Viresh instructed couple of breathing practices and asked about six staff to demonstrate four Yoga postures each and this was indeed a motivating factor for the other staff to join the Yoga group soon. Following the demonstration, Mr. Viresh was felicitated by all the NAAC staff in the presence of Director in Charge and Dr. Patra for his contribution, dedication and conviction. Eventually this function was concluded with Satvic Ahara.

ICMR Complex, BengaluruDr. Apar Avinash Saoji, Asst. Professor, S-VYASA was invited to Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Complex, Bengaluru on 21st June 2018 for International Day of Yoga (IDY) Celebrations. ICMR Complex, Bengaluru consists of three premier research institutes

Celebration in Bengaluru, Karnataka

Narayana Hrudayalaya, BengaluruS-VYASA faculties were been invited to conduct the IDY celebrations of Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bengaluru which was conducted in the institution campus on 21st June 2018.The program started at morning 7am, were Dr. Thimappa Hegde, Director & Senior consultant, Dept of Neurosurgery, welcomed the team from S-VYASA and all other participants who had come to the function. From S-VYASA, Dr Tomson Jose, Asst Professor,

- National Center for Diseases Informatics and Research (NCDIR), National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), Regional Occupational Health Center (ROHC). There were about 70 participants including Scientists, technical and non-technical staff from all three research organizations. Dr. Sukanya R., Scientist D, NCDIR, coordinator for the program welcomed the participants.

During his talk for about 45 minutes, Dr. Apar gave an overview about what is Yoga, concept of health and disease through yoga, various practices of yoga with their effects on human body, application of yoga for managing stress and the overview of yoga therapy for non-communicable diseases. At last, the participants were briefed about the work done in academics, research and clinical practice of yoga at S-VYASA.

The talk was followed by practice of yoga practices by all the participants. Two BNYS students, Mr. Amshuman Yadav, Final Year and Ms. Idhukala D, Third Year, who accompanied Dr. Apar helped the participants through demonstration of practices as well as corrections wherever required.

Dr. Prashant Mathur, Director, NCDIR thanked S-VYASA Yoga University, Dr. Apar and the students for their continued support for IDY celebrations at ICMR Complex, Bengaluru for fourth consecutive year. He also hoped that the staff members of ICMR complex will continue to practice yoga.

along with four other intern doctors, Manisha Priya, Aarshi, Preeti Hegde and Sujay Kumar were present to lead the celebrations. Dr. Thimappa, in his welcome address briefed about Ashtanga Yoga and how it is related to human life.

Followed by the welcome address, Dr. Tomson Jose started the Yoga session by explaining about the gaining importance of Yoga in the present era. Followed by this, a Yoga session was conducted by the S-VYASA team. Around 150 participants took part in the practical Yoga session, which includes 30 neurosurgeons and almost 70 nursing staffs of Narayana Hrudayalaya. The session was found to be very interesting by the participants and Dr.Komal Prasad, senior consultant, expressed his sincere thanks to S-VYASA team.

Dr. Muralidhar Kanchi, Senior Consultant, Dept of Anesthesia and Critical Care briefed about the research advances happening in the field of Yoga. Dr. Subramanian Kannan, Consultant, Dept of Endocrinology also spoke about the importance of Yoga for keeping oneself healthy. The session was concluded by the vote of thanks by Dr. Komal Prasad.

Income Tax Office, Vasant Nagar, Queen’s Road, BengaluruOn the occasion of International Yoga Day, a Yoga Camp was conducted by S-VYASA Deemed to be University, Bengaluru in Income Tax Office at Vasant Nagar, Queen’s Road by Dr. Sony Kumari (Associate Professor) along with two of the BNYS final year students named- Neha Jaroli and Prabhanjan D R.

There were total 30 participants including male and female along with chief commissioner of Bengaluru and Goa region participated in this program. Total duration of program was 1and ½ hour, started at 4.15 pm and ended by 5.45 pm in which a small talk on yoga, S-VYASA video clip, a brief introduction about S-VYASA activities followed by practice session was included.

Celebration in Bengaluru, Karnataka

Office of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade,Ministry of Industry & Commerce, GoI, BengaluruProf. M K Sridhar, Dean, Division of Yoga-Spirituality, S-VYASA Yoga University was the Chief Guest. Dr. T Vijayakumar, ITS, Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, GoI presided over the function. Dr. M K Sridhar in his speech explained about the various benefits of practicing Pranayama, Yoga which would help in developing one`s physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual faculties. Ms. Shwetha G, a PG student of S-VYASA taught Pranayama Techniques to the participants. Mr. Premachandran Nair, Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade, GoI welcomed the gathering and Smt. Sharada Shankar, S-VYASA coordinated the programme.

Indus Business Academy, BengaluruIn the IDY celebrations of Indus Business Academy 150 students and faculty participated. Cyclic

Meditation demonstrated by Ms. Shreeparna and Ms. Madhusmita. This was preceded by an hour's interaction on the role of Yoga in Management by Dr. Srinidhi K Parthasarathi, Director, VYASA Business School.

Sarala Yoga Vedike (SYV)®, Guttahalli, BengaluruDr. C N Ashwathanarayana, MLA & Medical Doctor, Malleshwaram Constituency, inaugurated the IDY 2018 at Sankey Tank Park, Malleshwaram and called upon the people to practice Yoga for Holistic health. Prof. M K Sridhar, Dean, Division of Yoga-Spirituality, S-VYASA Yoga University was one of the Chief Guests. Dr. M K Sridhar in his speech elaborated on the great contributions of India from time immemorial to the global thoughts especially in the fields of fables, Ayurveda, Bhagvadgita and Yoga. He paid rich

tributes to the Chancellor H R Nagendraji , his dedicated team and S-VYASA for making IDY a global phenomenon for the last four years. Prior to the function, the members of SYV demonstrated various patterns of yoga and asanas to the public.

PES University, BengaluruKarnataka State Yoga Academy and Sudarshan Yoga and Team celebrated International Yoga Day event in PES lounge in PES University. Sri Ananthkumarji, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, GoI was the Chief Guest.

Dr. I B Vijayalaxmi, Prof. Cardiology in Bangalore Medical College and Sri Ashish Ballal, Arjuna Awardee and former Hockey Player were the Guests of Honor.

Importantly, the Chief Guest, Guests Honour respected Dignitaries and all the Staff Members including Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Registrar PES University demonstrated the Protocol Practice and graced the occasion.

Celebration in Bengaluru, Karnataka

Suyoga, BengaluruSuyoga with its seven branches organized the valedictory function of IDY 2018 in PK Sports Complex, Bhoganahalli, Bengaluru on Sunday, 24th June 2018. Prof. M K Sridhar, Dean, Division of Yoga-Spirituality, S-VYASA Yoga University and Mr. Srinath, Director SBS MAERK Company were the Chief Guests. Smt. Rajani Anilkumar, Director, Suyoga was on the dais.

Dr. M K Sridhar in his speech traced the history and evolutions of Yoga from the Vedic to the present time and how it helps in one`s self realization. He also taught Antarmauna Meditation to the participants. Mr. Manjunath, Proprietor, PK Sports was felicitated on that occasion.

Dr. K Anilkumar, Hon. Faculty of S-VYASA, and Controller, BESCOM Regulatory Authority GoK, welcomed and compeered the programme. The members of Suyoga demonstrated the various asanas and pyramids.

Samyama Yoga Mahavidyalaya, BengaluruSamyama Yoga Mahavidyalaya organized 4th International Day of Yoga at Basaveshwaranagara, Bengaluru, Karnataka on 21 Jun 2018 from 6 an onwards. This programme was inaugurated by Prof. T G Sitaram, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and Dean of Yoga and Physical Sciences, S-VYASA Yoga University, Bengaluru. It was presided by Prof. Shivakumara Swamy, Sanskrit Professor (Retd.), Bangalore University and released Kannada Book ‘Surya Namaskara’ authored by Dr. Dhanvantari S Wodeyar, Founder and President of Samyama Trust. Dr. Selvappa, Principal of Samyama Yoga Mahavidyalaya and Dr. Mahadev Chikka Hejjaji, Actor, Writer and Former Dean of Yoga and Humanities, S-VYASA Yoga University were also present. About 600 participants including students and residents of Basaveshwaranagara practiced ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ and students demonstrated Pair Yoga and Advanced Yoga Postures.

Incometax Department, Koramangala, BengaluruTotal 35 Senior Officers from Incometax Department participated in the Yoga program. The program started with a welcome address by a Senior Officer, Mr. Ravindra. Following the welcome address, one hour Yoga session was conducted by Dr. Kashinath G M and Mr. Rajendra P. All Officers actively participated in the Yoga sessions and they were able to do all the practices demonstrated to them. A 30 minute talk on Role of Yoga in Modern Times was given by Dr. Kashinath. Both Yoga session and talk on Yoga were appreciated by all participants.

The program was ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Ravindra and some of the participants expressed their views and experience about Yoga. Incometax Department appreciated and expressed gratitude to the S-VYASA University for conducting this program at Incometax premises.

GVK Biosciences, Jigani, BengaluruAssistant Professor, Dr. Mithila M V and JRF, Ms. Jintu Kurian led the sessions during the celebrations of 4th IDY at GVK Biosciences, Jigani, Bengaluru.

GR Group of Institutions, Kanakapura Road, BengaluruDr. Manjunath G of S-VYASA delivered a lecture in GR Group of Institutions on 4th IDY celebrations. Smt. GeetaRamanujam, Former Principal of National College, Jayanagar and Sri Ramanujam, Former Director of R&D Ranbaxy were graced the occasion.

Special Event at AirportsViman Yatri Saral Yoga - A specialized 10-minute yoga module for Air travelers was conducted at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru and Indira

Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi between 8am to 6pm. The Executive Director of Vyasa Health Care, Dr. Vasudha M Sharma and Mr. Amit Fotedar, Manager-Terminal Operations, BIAL opened the event at Bengaluru, while Mr. Videh Jaipuriar, CEO of DIAL and Dr. Puneeth R, Assistant Director (Clinical), School of Naturopathy, S-VYASA University inaugurated the event at New Delhi.

Air travelers, executives and crew members were a part of Vimana Yatri Saral Yoga event. It was designed for air travelers to manage the physiological and psychological distress involved in the process of travel from home to any destination. Problems like fatigue, anxiety and muscular stiffness can be prevented from aggravation by adapting this simple module. Participants appreciated it to be a good initiative, felt relaxed and found it to be excellent live interactive session. The credit of the success of both the events goes to the staff of Vyasa Health Care, BNYS students and Alumni of S-VYASA University

Vivekananda Health Global, HSR Layout, Bengaluru, was part of the celebrations held at HSR grounds. The center also conducted Yoga sessions at Decathlon Bannerghatta road on 21st June 2018 and it was widely appreciated by all the participants.

Vivekananda Health Global, Devaaya, Goa, (Residential Center) demonstrated to all the clients from India and Abroad that Yoga is a perfect journey of the self, through the self and to the self. The staff put up a great show on this day.

VYASA-Kalyan, MumbaiDr. Mamta Amit Mishra with 50 YIC, Msc Teachers at Bharati Purohit Yoga Samantha VYASA Kalyan celebrated IDY 2018 at different location and time. They started preparation on 21st May 2018 and gave training of CYP to different groups at different locations with our teachers.

17th June conducted senior citizens training at Mulund Mumbai followed by school and college students whom took to ONGC Mumbai.

On 21st June similarly, it was celebrated at various places as follows - Sai Chowk, Open Place of Kalyan Sports Club, Birla College, DSD School, Birla School Kalyan.

Dignitaries like BJP MLA, Sri Narendrs Pawarji and Ex Corporator of MNS, Sri Ulhas Bhoir were also present. Mission, Be and Make of VYASA and S-VYASA University Bengaluru got the huge appreciation by participants in IDY.

Vivekananda Health Global, Mumbai (Residential) also had activities at their premises with staff of Lodha Group to mark the occasion.

Vivekananda Yoga Global, Trivandrum, conducted yoga programs at the center, Yoga demo at Carnival Cinemas at Travancore Mall and conducted event at Kerala state electronics development corporation limited.

Vyasa Yoga Singapore

4th International Day of Yoga was conducted at 100 locations across 170 sessions in Singapore with over 10,000 participants during the week of June 16-24. Guests of Honor included, Ms. Grace Foo, Minister of Parliament, Mr. Jayachandran, High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius, German Ambassador, Mr. Karten Warnecke, the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Jawed Asraf, Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Ninad Despande, First Secretary at HCI, Mr. Jayaprahasan, Mr. Shailendra Bhandari, CEO of Eco Oils.

Ms. Ruchica Patni along with Mr. Manoj Thakur of Vyasa Yoga Singapore organised and managed including the iconic locations of Singapore like Gardens by the Bay, Schools, Universities, Buddhist Temple, Special Young Athletes, Swami Home, Sun Love Home (home for mentally challenged patients).

The main program was at Civil Service Club where more than 300 people did Chair Yoga led by Mr. Anand Goyal.

Mr Rajesha H K, Division of Yoga-Spirituality, Mr. Kiran Kumar Menon from VYASA, and Ms. Ananya Biswas, MSc Yoga Therapy student represented S-VYASA Yoga University. The workshop was held for amateurs and professionals in two groups. On 24th, a discussion session was organized with Dean, Vice Dean, and other Faculties along with representatives of other Universities. S-VYASA team was very much appreciated by the organizers for best lectures and explanation, instructions, and asana performance.

Federal Parliament, Melbourne, AustraliaVasudeva Kriya Yoga celebrated the historic 4th International Day of Yoga event in the Federal Parliament. The former Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Abbot, the Multicultural Minister Mr. Alan Tudge and 4 other MPs had attended the event along with Indian High Commissioner and Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner. This the first time the IDY event was held in the any Parliament of the World.

Celebration at International Level

Flagship event of the Indian High Commissioner’s UN Int’l Yoga Day 2018 in Parliament Park, UKBob Blackman MP Co-Chair and Rt Hon Baroness Verma Member of All Party Parliamentary Group – Indian Traditional Sciences along with His Excellency Mr Y K Sinha the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, Mr Manoj Sinha, MP, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Government of India, Dr. Munisamy Thambidurai Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Commons in India) Government of India and Sri M, were joined by five hundred yoga enthusiasts from all over the country to inaugurate the 4th UN Int’l Yoga Day celebrations at Victoria Tower Gardens with the splendid backdrop of the Houses of Parliament on a sunny Thursday afternoon.

This was the High Commissioner of India to UK Mr Y K Sinha’s flagship event for the 2018 UN Int’l Day of Yoga in London where he reminded the guests sitting on their yoga mats in the open-air garden adjoining the Palace of Westminster the message of Prime Minister of India. ‘This “biggest mass moment” has shown the world the path from ill health to well-being, as well, this “ancient yet modern” discipline gives hope for the future of humankind, he said the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave in his keynote address earlier today celebrating the 4th International Yoga Day with over 50,000 yoga enthusiasts in Dehradun.’ Mr Manoj Sinha along with Dr Thambidurai also reflected the Indian Prime Minister’s universal message for human health of ‘prevention is better than cure’.

After a stimulating and informative session of 3 hours held by various expert Yoga teachers including Jyoti Joshi, Dr Nitasha Buldeo, Padma Coram, Devraj S Khalsa, Pandit Satish Sharma, Sushma Bhanot, Joanne Avison, Martin Worthy, and Robin Graham the day continued at the Houses of Parliament to discuss the development of Yoga practice in the U.K. and the affiliations that could be made to integrate it to the NHS.

Celebration at International Level

Munich, GermanyDr. Pukar Lohani, VI Semester MD (Yoga) student at S-VYASA, who is currently posted to KWA Klinik Stift Rottal, Bad Griesbach, Germany, participated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Munich.

The program was arranged at the historic city center, Marienplatz of Munich, a popular tourist destination. On 21st June 2018, the celebrations were inaugurated by Mr. Sugandh Rajaram, the Consul General, Consulate General of India, Munich. The event was graced by Sri Sri Ravishankar ji of Art of Living Foundation, and representatives from Sivanada Yoga etc. were also present for the event.

On 22nd June, the events included performance of Mallakhamb by German residents, Bharatanatyam and Yoga performances by children. There was practice of Sun-salutations, Hatha Yoga, Bhajans, Yogasana competition etc.

On 23rd June, Dr. Pukar was invited was by Mr. Girish of Hindu Swayamsewak Sangh (HSS), Munich for celebrations of IDY. HSS is a non-profit organization running in various places around Germany. He made about 100 participants from HSS to practice Mind Sound Resonance Technique and Cyclic Meditation. There was a positive feedback and enthusiasm from the participants for the session.

Hunan University of Science and Technology & Shanghai Hung of Yoga, ChinaDuring the 4th IDY celebrations, Ms. Ms. Zhou Zhe Ying, PhD Student at S-VYASA, delivered a lecture – Focus your mind to achieve your dreams and conducted the Yoga session at Hunan University of Science and Technology, a Physical Education Institute, China and organized a workshop at Shanghai Hung of Yoga.
