Kingdom Transformation

God is moving us from the Church Era to the Kingdom Era.

In the Church Era, each local church worked to fulfill their individual part of advancing the Kingdom of God.

In the Kingdom Era, followers of Christ across cities and regions will cooperatively work to advance the Kingdom of God.

The Church Era Today most

churches are inwardly focused.

We spend 98% of our time and resources...

◆ Growing the number of people who attend our services

◆ Caring for those who attend services

◆ Building space for our services

The Kingdom Era Our focus will

shift from having services to building people who serve God and others.

People who can, in the course of every day living

◆ Lead disciplined and godly lives

◆ Effectively lead others to Christ

◆ Effectively train others to be skilled followers of Christ

What changes will occur? Teaching

◆ From teaching to training Organizing

◆ From board led churches to leaders of an ever expanding number of new works

Spending and resources◆ From facility centric to focusing on things that

advance the Kingdom ‘out there’

Assess our training skills If we are going to move from teaching

to training, lets rate our effectiveness in training in the 5 key equipping areas.

Lets use a 1 - 5 scale:◆ 1 means we need help◆ 5 means we are doing great

Kingdom Transformation [email protected]

Evangelism How effective are we at...

◆ Training our people to effectively share Christ in their homes, at work and in the context of their daily lives?

◆ Capturing and utilizing testimonies, the God stories that occur as Christ impacts us and our world?

◆ Rate your church between 1 and 5

Discipleship How effective are we at...

◆ Making disciples, or skilled followers who can share Christ and follow him in a trained, mature, disciplined way?

◆ Making disciples who can effectively reproduce themselves ‘out there’ in the context of their day to day lives?

◆ Rate your church between 1 and 5

Vision and Mission How effective are we at...

◆ Helping our people find the special work that God has called them to and fulfilling their destiny?

◆ Equipping our people to help those who they are training to be skilled followers to find and fulfil their destiny?

◆ Rate your church between 1 and 5

Truth. Defending against cults, evolution and world philosophies.

How effective are we at...◆ Equipping our people to effectively defend against

the attacks that come from those world philosophies that challenge the truth?

◆ Equipping our people to help those who they are training to be skilled followers who know how to contend for the truth?

◆ Rate your church between 1 and 5

Planting and Building Our biggest challenge is that our wineskins

grow old and ineffective Even a Sunday School class, after 2 years

tends to become ineffective at assimilating new members. Relationships ‘gel’ and there is little room for newcomers.

Planting and Building continued To advance the Kingdom, we need to improve our

works that already exist. We need new works to address needs that are not

being met. We need new works to replace works that have aged

and will “break” if changed. How effective is your church at equipping people to

support and begin new works and to

improve existing works?

The City or Regional Church Emerges The Church in Ephesus and the Church

in Corinth were the believers in the region. They worked together to advance the Kingdom.

We want to build a coalition of organizations and individuals who work together to advance the Kingdom in our region. 2

Problem Statement For the most part, believers are not fully

equipped in the 5 Key Functions. Believers should not only be fully

equipped in these 5 Key Functions, they should be able to, in turn, develop other skilled followers.

Kingdom Transformation [email protected]

What is the solution?God has promised to provide us people who can equip us in

the 5 Key Functions. Those people and functions are:

1. Apostles to teach us to plant and support new works

2. Prophets to stir us to find and fulfill our purpose and to defend the truth

3. Evangelists to help us be Good News Messengers

4. Pastors to teach us to live right, to provide care and service

5. Teachers to equip us to teach others

Kingdom Transformation [email protected]

Who cannot solve the problem? Can I?

- “No.” Can you?

- “No.” Can your or my ministry?

- “No.”

Kingdom Transformation [email protected]

Who can solve the problem? God himself provides those that equip. If we will properly join together, we can -TOGETHER! -

solve the equipping problem. We can grow -individually and corporately- as God intends

us to grow if the body joins together and functions in the 5 key areas.

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Eph. 4:16

See the end at the Beginning◆ The need to connect is directly in proportion to the size of our

vision for the region! ◆ Do we envision individuals fully equipped in the 5 functions?◆ If so, we will see the need to connect across the region to tap

into individuals who are skilled at developing others in each of the 5 key functions.

◆ As leaders connect across the region, they will demonstrate how important it is to collaborate to build the Kingdom. This provides a ‘model’ for others to follow!

The big question - Are we committed?

◆ To PERSONAL Ministry, a deliberate ministry to other individuals?

◆ PUBLIC Ministry, deliberately serving in our congregational meeting

◆ REGIONAL Ministry, receiving and -as we are able- serving others throughout the region Leaders: providing training for people in the 5 Key Functions All: growing in the 5 Key Functions All: serving our communities

Committed to connecting.

◆ Are we committed to connecting... ...to improve our function ...to support the function of others ...to extend the Kingdom
