Chapter 10 Homework A lot of it has to do with climate, arid climates tend to have higher TDS waters because salts accumulate by evaporative concentration. Humid climates tend to have low TDS because of leaching. This is noticeable in soils, humid climates have highly leached soils where only the least soluble minerals remain (iron and aluminum for example).
