What is Internet?

• Internet is such an important thing nowadays. Most of ususe it every day whether to search for information, tofind friends and even to buy groceries.

• The Internet is a global system of interconnectedcomputer networks that interchange data by packetswitching using the standardized Internet Protocol Suite(TCP/IP).

What is Communication?

• Communication is the process of conveyinginformation from a sender to a receiver withthe use of a medium in which thecommunicated information is understood byboth sender and receiver. It is a process thatallows people to exchange information byseveral methods.

Definition - What does Chat mean?Chat refers to the process of communicating, interacting and/or exchanging

messages over the Internet. It involves two or more individuals that

communicate through a chat-enabled service or software.

Chat is also known as chatting, online chat or Internet chat

A newsgroup is an online discussion forum accessible through Usenet. Each newsgroup

contains discussions about a specific topic, indicated in the newsgroup name. You can browse

newsgroups and post or reply to topics using a newsreader program. Access to newsgroupsalso requires a Usenet subscription.

Newsgroup Examples

Below are some examples of active newsgroups. The first part of the name (before the first dot)is the primary category (or hierarchy) or the newsgroup. For example, sci. is used for science-

Chat room Chat room a virtual room where a chat session takes

place. Technically, a chat room is really a channel, but the

term room is used to promote the chat metaphor.

The term chat room, or chatroom, is primarily used to describe any form

of synchronous conferencing, occasionally even asynchronous conferencing. The

term can thus mean any technology ranging from real-time online chat/.. and online

interaction with strangers (e.g., online forums) to fully immersive graphical socialenvironments.

Instant messaging (IM) is a form of communication over the Internet,that offers quick transmission of text-based messages from sender toreceiver. instant messaging basically offers real-time direct writtenlanguage-based online chat.
