CHAPTER IIITECHNICAL BACKGROUND

To better understand the software and hardware that will be

used in the development of Ireene’s Cake Shop Online Ordering

System, the following system requirements are presented:

Database Server : MySQL

Operating System : Windows XP

Software Development : Macromedia

Dreamweaver 8

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Memory : Minimum: 1GB

Processor : Intel Core 2.8 GHz

Hard Disk : Minimum: 160GB

Windows XP

Currently the most common desktop OS in the world. XP

also has a new, more modern look, and an interface that is easier

to navigate than previous versions of Windows.

Memory

Memory (minimum 1GB) internal storage areas in the

computer, 1GB because it can run and support the system.

Another term for main memory is RAM. The computer can

manipulate only data that is in main memory. Therefore, every

program executes and every file accessed must be copied form a

storage device into main memory. The amount of main memory on

a computer is crucial because it determines how many programs

can be executed at one time and how much data can be readily

available to a program.

Processor

The higher the GHz on the processor, the faster powerful

processor the faster it can think. The greater the gigahertz

capacity of the processor, the quicker the computer will be able

to process instruction sent to it. Some corporations have

developed a dual processor.

Hard Disk

It is the main and usually the largest data storage device in

a computer that stores and provides relatively quick access to

large amount of data on an electromagnetically charged surface or

set of surfaces. A spindle of magnetic disks, called platters, that

record and store information.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 is a professional Hyper Text

Markup Language (HTML) editor for designing, coding, and

developing websites, web pages, and web applications. Whether

one enjoys the control of hand-coding HTML, or prefer to work in

a visual editing environment, Dreamweaver provides helpful tools

to enhance web creation experience. The visual editing features in

Dreamweaver let users to quickly create web pages without

writing a line of code. It can view all the site elements or assets

and it can be dragged from an easy-to-use panel directly into a

document.

MySQL

MySQL’s development history has been characterized by a

clear-eyed focus on the most important attributes of a good

Relational Database Management System (RDBMS): speed and

reliability. This has resulted in a system that outperforms most of
