refers to the classification of theclaimant's last employer or theemployer for whom the claimantearned the greatest wage duringthe base period.
represents the weekly number ofcovered workers, totally or partiallyunemployed, who have filedunemployment insurance claims.
The data shows characteristics of claims for benefit paymentsmade for the week containing the 12th of each month. It includesjobless persons filing claims for unemployment insurance under theHawaii Employment Security Law and persons filing claims in theState of Hawaii against another state. The data excludes thoseclaimants filing under the Extended Benefit program, and federalprograms covering ex-federal workers and ex-military personnel.
Beginning with the 2001-2002 Characteristics of the InsuredUnemployed publication, there is a new format for the Industry andOccupation categories. The Standard Occupational Classification(SOC) system replaced the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT)coding system for occupations. The North American IndustryClassification System (NAICS) is being used to designate thedifferent industries instead of the Standard Industrial Classification(SIC) system. For trend analysis purposes, the data may not becomparable.
