Member of the Month

August

Lucille Nual

Lucile was our member of the month for August be-

cause she exemplifies a true key club member. She

comes to events but she does more than she is re-

quired. Even at a recent event when we were with chil-

dren she made them all self portraits! She doesn't just

help the community, she tries to make sure she always

leaves it with a smile!

Are you guys ready to start a new year in Key Club? New members, how is your experience in Key Club so far? I hope everyone is excited for this fun and service-filled year we have in store for you guys. It was nice to see so many new and old faces at our very first meeting of the new 2014-2015 school year. Stay tuned for more volunteering opportunities, social events, and a lot of cheering!

The ice skating social was a ton of fun, if you're okay with

falling. Some of the upperclassmen liked to chop their

skates right in front of me while I was skating, which total-

ly freaked me out and made me fall. I ended up with a

nasty cut, but it's still a great memory! (And an ugly scar

too.)

Annual School Clean Up

During the annual Trash Cleanup we as a team

improved our school. There was numerous piec-

es of litter across the school and it made Clark

look unappealing. Despite the trash, I made

some new friends during this event. Together

we made Clark beautiful and practiced some

chants!

Blanket Making at Desert Breeze

The blanket making event was held at Desert Breeze park and it was a spec-

tacular event. Even though it was a bit confusing at first on how to tie the

slits together, it was a great way for everyone to bond and meet new people.

After you complete making a blanket, you feel great that someone who was

in need of a blanket finally gets to have one! With everyone's help it didn't

take that long to make it. After we made blankets we practiced some cheers

to prepare for Regional Training Conference and we also played some ice

breakers so everyone could become an "ohana" one step at a time.

Blanket Making at Desert Breeze

Even though the summer heat decided to stay around, I'm glad

that our wonderful key clubbers still love to do service! Through

sweating and fabric cutting, lots of quality time was spent with

one another. My favorite part of the event was definitely watch-

ing Anish kick Nihar's butt in the spirit off. It was great to see

some of our freshman so ready to be involved in the key club

year. What a wonderful start to the fun, service filled year!

Operation School Bell

Operation School Bell is honestly one of the most inspiring ser-vice events that our club participates in. Working with young children, especially those who are underprivileged yet are still so enthusiastic and innocent, is a truly rewarding experience. Even if we do not get the chance to actually help the children pick out the clothes and supplies that they receive through the event, we are still able to enjoy their pleasure and gratitude. Witnessing their joy whenever someone helps them draw, reads them stories, or simply listens to them when they talk really exemplifies the overwhelmingly positive impact that service has on our commu-nity.
