People still ask that same question today, but in a different way. It is asked, not directly but by life styles and manners of speech, instead of straight forward, because we live in a world that tells us truth is relative. My truth may not be your truth. The dictionary defines truth as: conformity with fact or reality. Therefore, if we take that definition, a fact is a fact, and there cannot be different facts or realities of the same fact or reality. If I said grass is green, that is a fact. No one can argue with that, no matter what you might think. Even if you may be color blind, the fact and reality is that grass is green. This is the same when it comes to the Faith that Jesus came to testify to. The facts are the facts! When people say that they do not agree with a doctrine of the church, that is impossible because every doctrine of the church is built of a fact or reality revealed to us by the Scripture or Tradition from Jesus and the Apostles. We as Knights are extremely responsible for Testifying to the Truth like Jesus did. Knights defend and protect. Knights of Columbus are required to protect and defend the Truths of the Faith. Therefore, I urge you to live to your fullest, what we believe, so you can be a shining example of the Faith and at the same time allow your life to defend the truth by your actions. Do not be tricked by the way our modern culture has twisted words and truth. We are approaching election time. Remember, separation of Church and State does not mean what most people think it means. You are allowed to talk about politics in Catholic and other religious organizations. Separation of Church and State means that the State or Government will not identify with any one particular religion and any religion or Faith will not identify with a particular party of government. This is to ensure religious freedom. This means as Knights we are required and expected to speak about the truths of the issues, but not identify with a particular party. As Knights, I pray you defend the religious Freedom in jeopardy in our country with the HHS mandate. I pray you defend the reversal of legalized abortion and use of contraception and urge all people to not vote for anyone against these values, because these values are TRUTH! Please, in this very important and crucial time in our history, be the Knights you are called to e and Testify to the Truth! ...a fact is a fact, and there cannot be different facts or realities of the same fact or reality. Have you ever wondered what happened to those men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons in the Revolutionary Army, another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or the hardships of the Revolutionary War.

What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
