President - Dickson-Diveley Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic
The Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedic Clinic was started in the 1920's by Dr.
Franklin D. Dickson and Dr. Rex L. Diveley. Dr. Dickson was the ninth
president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Dr.
Diveley was the fourteenth president of the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons. Drs. Dickson and Diveley started the Dickson-
Diveley Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program in the 1930's and the
program continues today as the University of Missouri-Kansas City
School of Medicine Orthopaedic Residency Program. The Clinic is the
primary provider of Orthopaedic Services (11 of 12 surgeons) to Saint
Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City (the leading private tertiary care and
teaching hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area). The Clinic
provides the primary clinical instructors for the UMKC/Dickson-Diveley
Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program. The Clinic has provided a
model of private practice emphasizing patient care, resident education,
subspecialty expertise, hospital collaboration, and community involvement

Emergency room (KU had a fatal ER shooting during my tenure),
educational quality of the respective programs, and upgrading of hospital
infrastructure to enhance resident education.

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is the city’s premier private tertiary
and teaching hospital. It oversees a network of nine hospitals, has
revenues in excess of $600 million annually, and is owned by the
Episcopalian Church. It has full residency teaching programs in Internal
Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Radiology, Anesthesiology, and
Orthopaedics. It has internationally recognized fellowships in Cardiology,
Cardio thoracic Surgery, GI, and Anesthesiology.
