The Landscape Partnership

programme To apply for a Heritage Lottery Fund Landscape Partnership grant, you must identify an area of countryside that has a distinctive landscape character and is recognised and valued by local people.

This area of countryside should be no smaller than 20 km² and usually no larger than 200 km².

Landscape Partnerships

are delivered by a partnership made up of national, regional and local organisations with an interest in the area, community groups and individuals 

are based around a portfolio of smaller projects which together provide long term social, economic and environmental benefits for a rural area

have an overall budget of £100,000 to £3,000,000 will run for a time-limited period of up to 5 years

Landscape Partnership outcomes

Landscape Partnerships must deliver nine outcomes :

Outcomes for heritage Heritage will be better managed Heritage will be in better condition Heritage will be identified/recorded

Outcomes for people People will have developed skills People will have learnt about heritage People will have volunteered time

Outcomes for communities Environmental impacts will be reduced More people and a wider range of people will have engaged with heritage The local area/community will be a better place to live, work or visit

For each of these outcomes there will be a range of projects.

Bid process – Round 1

Submitted end May 2013 Assessed in one UK wide batch with decision made by Board of

Trustees by October 2013

Bid process – development phase & Round 2 18-24 month development period

Need to confirm background evidence on landscape character and value, all scheme costs, programmes, projects, timetable, delivery mechanisms and detailed projects – all in a Landscape Conservation Action Plan

Not competitive - funding is likely to be available to a scheme if it meets the necessary criteria, priorities and any conditions requested following the Round 1 submission

Assessed by East Midlands regional committee within four months of submission

Timescale February 2012 – Charnwood Forest Regional Park Steering Group approved development of bid May 2012 – Stakeholder Group meeting July 2012 – site visits with HLF Grants Officer July - November 2012 – meetings with stakeholder organisations

November 2012 – Stakeholder Group meeting

December 2012 – formation of outline Partnership Board

December 2012 – April 2013 – development of detailed bid

End May 2013 – deadline for Round 1 application

October 2013 – Round 1 decision

November 2013 - May 2015 – development phase

June 2015 – anticipated Round 2 application submission

October 2015 – anticipated Round 2 decision

October - December 2015 – set up scheme
